I agree - those silly amounts of stretch you sometimes see, generally on imports, make zero sense other than for the shock value.

I really think that terms like "stretch" on the wide wheel side and "pinched" or "squeezed" on the narrow wheel side are going to be more useful if we reference them to a tire size's "measuring width", which is the width wheel that the tire's listed measurements were made on. Anything up to the tire industry's max or min would constitute mild but still acceptable stretching/pinching.
