In addition, the car will need to be tuned, which means that at the very least the factory GM engine calibration will have to be overwritten to make use of the extra power the supercharger affords—that alone voids the GM powertrain warranty. Now I know nothing about this specific kit and the warranty it comes with (I have a V8 and a Magnuson unit), but they talk about a powertrain warranty "when applicable", I'd read the fine print or maybe contact Edelbrock about that. Most likely this refers to using their own supplied generic tune instead of a fully custom tune, which will leave some performance on the table but allow you to have a 3rd party (Edelbrock) warranty for the powertrain.

Has anyone had experience/problems with the edelbrock supercharger for the 3.6L by any chance? Idk whether to grab this during black friday or wait till I hit a certain amount of miles.

Those V6 superchargers are expensive, you'll have a less reliable car, gain little or nothing in resale value. If you would supercharge a V6 because you can't afford a V8, don't do it! Save your money. You have a great car with a 335hp V6.

I understand that there are a few adventurous souls who want to see how far they can take the LGX, which is totally cool and respectable, but IMO this route isn't for the regular guy who simply wants "potential V8 power" with little to no risk and costs heaping up in the long run.

Goes for the LTG 2T - turbo is usually the target audience for engine mods. much more affordable if you like to tinker and mod w/o having to break the bank, or records, just others records in our class. Are any of the stripper V8s on sale yet?

For the record, I'm not stubborn. I'm new to the whole performance world with cars. I've stated this when I first joined and said this in other threads.
Believe me, I would love to have a V8, saving cash as a down payment and at least scoring an LT1 model few years down the road, why I chose the LGX was the fuel economy, practicality, the challenge for v6 mods (since everyone loves V8s) and the reasonable price for a quick as hell car. As for the resale value, I planned on keeping the car (if it dies, value wont be much different years down the road anyway, right?) I can agree it does seem like some pain spending thousands of dollars building up when I can trade it for a v8 but for one to enjoy the car that I paid for makes the enjoyment of doing so fun. What's the smarter choice? Trade for a V8, yes I can agree but I like the idea of having a supercharged engine (my ass cant afford no ZL1 XD ) as for this supercharger, I had plans on waiting till my warrenty to go out anyway and focus on warrenty safe mods. I dont plan on taking it to a drag strip, just having a badass daily driver. |

Also, there's a ton of fun to be had by adding to the car in stages, it's a bit like getting a new car every time, making that daily driver more and more badass. Just wanted you to be aware of the risk vs reward situation, but as I said, the call is yours alone to make.

If you get the Edelbrock you'll still end up having Overkill tune it. Edelbrock has had some issues with their can tune working properly. My buddy found out he hard way. his car was inoperable for over 2 weeks and Eelbrock couldn't figure it out.
Will has had to step in and save a few guys. So my advice is if you buy the Edelbrock get the one without the tune and let Overkill tune it for you. I mean i get why this one is tempting. black friday you can get it for 3800$ with the 15% off. |

He has horrible customer service. That's the main reason I won't use him to tune my car. Long turn around time and takes multiple messages to get any kind of answer. Not giving anyone like that my money.

That explains it. I might get a tune from someone else and just get the S/C.

The current HP is good foe a N/A 6 banger. What DOHC 6 bangers lack is Tq. Some is made up in the low gearing but you can really feel the TQ pull drop off after 3rd gear. The v8 is still pulling like a freight train in 3rd, probably 4th too but I never had the open road wind it out in 4th as I would be way in the triple digits. |
