AmericanRacingHeaders "50 State" legal shorties with 3" DownPipes (PICS)
We now have 3" downpipes to work with the ARH "50-STATE/CARB Approved" shorty headers.
"49-STATE" cats are used in the downpipes. Last edited by SteveDoten@ARH; 03-11-2014 at 12:24 PM. |

Tuning with the ARH shorties only is not required and you can expect gains of 12-14 RWHP on a bone stock Gen 5. Gains will be greater if you already have a CAI or if you incorporate our 3" Downpipes.
Because our cats are high flow, combining or Shorties with our Downpipes or the Downpipes with the stock manifolds may require tuning but that remains to be seen. Our cats are very efficient besides being 49 State Legal. You may not see any codes at all. I'd be more than happy to go over what you have planned for upgrades and steer you in the right direction. Feel free to PM or call us with any questions. Thanks. Nick 631-608-1986 |

So....the headers are 50-state legal, but the catalytic converters you have to use with them are only legal in 49-states?

Thats California for you. You're "not allowed" to touch/modify/remove the cats in Cali. The shorty headers are legal because they applied for a CARB cert and passed. And it passed because they leave the stock cats and exhaust in place/unmodified.

Which of course is where you lose much of the efficiency of tuned headers.
