Does no one know that you can easily counter this by popping it into neutral or depressing the clutch while counter steering? This is an ordinary day in heavy rain for a 6th Gen

So.... lift completely while eliminating the option to actually control the slide by removing the engine's connection to the drive wheels? Interesting theory.

By removing the torque to the drive wheels (the thing that got you into this situation to begin with) you give your tires a better chance to grip, and therefore have a much greater chance of regaining control... And its no theory, its physics. The more torque going into the tires, the more they have to fight to grip the pavement, The less power you have going into the drive wheels at a period of which there is limited to no traction, the greater chance you have of regaining traction and control. No power into the drive wheels gives them the best opportunity to grip then the power of steering is able to overcome the momentum and improper direction the vehicle is headed thus you regain control and direction you want to travel in.

If you try to control the slide with the throttle while you're already in a slide that is out of control, adding power is only going to go the route of the Mustang, that is a period when you need the least amount of power into the drive wheels as possible.

I've done this plenty of times on ice and hydroplaning in both 4th and 6th gens and it works MUCH better than leaving it in gear and hoping for the best.

Aren't LT1s also likely or prone to doing this though?
