Try Summit Racing, or Jegs

Just go to a dealership, get the 4.91 ring and pinion, new pinion bearings, 2 quarts of fluid, and a shim kit.

Is everyone still on stock differential? Wanting to swap gears but was told its risky and could mess up the diff quickly.

I never heard that, but I upgraded my 40k mile 3.45 diff by adding the 3.91 ring and pinion. 5k mikes later, it's done.

To be fair, I drive it hard, pretty much all the time.
And it failed after a day at a really tight track.
5 30min sessions on a track that has lots of sharp turns and even a u turn.

Would it have died had I not changed the ring?
We'll never know.

I swapped mine out around 50k miles I think. Stock diff. I replaced all the bearings and races while I was in there and haven't had a problem since in 25k miles or so. I don't drag race so outside of normal street driving and some playing around I don't see why you'd have a problem.

I posted somewhere all the part numbers for carrier bearings and races, pinion bearings and races, seals, and crush washer. *EDIT* - http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=419917

It's not risky. Do the swap, break them in for 500 miles, drain and fill fluid, enjoy.

If your going to do it and drag...add a LPW diff cover(https://www.lpwracing.com/Ultra_IRS/Ultra_IRS.html...cheap insurance IMHO...most failures due to bearing cap walk leading to the ring pulling away from the pinion until boom...
