Converters for fi/cammed autos?
Anyone suggest any good ones?
What are pros and con, if there are any cons? I really don't even understand what a converter does to be honest. Will the car be a totally different animal with one? I'm currently on my stock converter with all my mods. trying to figure out if a converter would be worth investing right now. Also any suggestions on some awesome converters out there? Thanks |

They make a huge difference, I had a Midwest 3400 stall in my 98 Z28 and it dropped my 1/4 time by .5 seconds. Im not sure what kind people are using in the C5's but its a MUST mod for an auto.

I have a Precision Industry Vigilante 2800 in mine. I drive my car almost daily and didn't want to go to high due to traction issues. With the 2800 you can bring the rpms up at the starting line to help launch. If all goes well and you hook up you get moving a lot faster. Around town, starting at lights you will need a little more to get moving the higher stall speed you go. Only bad thing with higher stalls are you mpg will suffer in stop and go traffic. But its a a real kick in the butt....
BTW I have not yet been to track to test out the stall.

From what I have been told the best converters are custom spec'd for your car....
I was told to check out ptcrace and talk to Dusty Bradford to custom spec a converter. |

Ptc makes great converters for sure. I'm just not sure if they Do them for the 6l80. I would call them and see. They are great people to deal with awesome customer service. Chris@hps is real tight with the Ptc guys and is a vendor here I'm sure he will be happy to help you out.
