Steering Noise
I’m going to schedule an appointment with the dealer, but maybe I can get some insight on the issue before I take the car in. There’s a loud noise that occurs when I make a sharp right turn. It only happens when I’m driving. Anybody experience an issue like this?

Anything done to the suspension? Stock rims and tires or same sized tires?
Does it happen with the steering in all modes? It could be a steering column issue or it could be the rim is hitting something when turned that sharp. Surely sounds like metal on metal contact. |

Everything is stock except the tires. The tires are oem size, though. I haven’t tested each mode. There’s no damage on the rims from what I can see

I guess let the dealer look at it. Couple of things you could do before taking it to the dealer would be:
1) Turn the wheel to the right, jack either each side up one at a time and spin the wheel with your hand to see if the noise can be heard. 2) Jack both sides up at once and then have someone turn the wheel back and forth, slowly, while listening for the noise and spinning each wheel as well. But not everyone has 2 jacks so only if you're able to. It could be anything from the steering column to the wheel hitting something to the brake caliper. With these electric steering column's, I'm uncertain on the noise they can make when their going bad or have issues. Yves ZL1; I'm certain we're not talking about the same issue. His is steering related and you are saying your's is transmission related. |

Hey did you ever get to the bottom of this? My 2SS 1LE is making a very similar sound, intermittently. It's driving me nuts!
