Front Breaks Noise
My 2015 Camaro Z28 is making a odd noise from the front breaks... I have been trying to find out what is causing this noise of concern.
Best described, It is kind of a "wa wa wa" noise. The noise is heard at a slow and slight breaking... after slight usage. This noise started after replacing all the tires with 325/30/19 MPSS. Thus the pads and rotors appear to look great, is this of great concern? What are your thoughts and or any experience with this issue? Would anyone have a means of correcting this noise or reasoning for? Thank you. |

Mine does this, particularly in the colder weather. I live with it. I wouldn't mind putting some of the silencing goop on the back of the pads/pistons if I ever have the wheels off.

I have something similar to this when I haven't washed the car in a while. I have decent luck with getting rid of the noise just by spraying off the break area thoroughly with the wheels on when I wash it. It usually eliminates the noise all together.
Typically this type of noise is friction between the shim/pad and any stationary touch points which can be greased/lubricated with a brake appropriate lubricant. Also noticed that a few hard stops when first driving the car after long hiatus minimized this effect too. I run the same tire as you since the original trofeos gave out. 3rd set of 325/30 MPSS with almost 70k miles on the clock. |

Its normal to have some noise while they are still cold...usually goes away when the brakes warm up from driving. I think thats actually in the book too (don't quote me on that though).

Thank you for the responses. The shared experience certainly has provided me with a bit ease. Knowledge is Power...
Well, raised the Z and removed the wheels for a thorough inspection. All brake components were G2G- nothing of damage or need of attention. The only thing I could find that could be of issue was “grime/ brake residue” on the caliper pins... therefore removed the pins, cleaned and lubed. After reassembled, I conducted a test drive and appears to have helped. Thank y’all again |

Personally, and this may be just me, but I wouldn't put any "brake grease" on the pads. Each piston is vented and that would just clog up the vents and possibly prevent sufficient cooling. Just my .02 cents.

How often do you drive it? Is it strictly a daily driver? Sit outside? Wash it and let it sit?
Go out and scrub the brakes hard. Follow the street burnish procedure. It’ll get em cleaned up. Unlike normal brakes they do not form a layer of rust. They do however have small pockets of corrosion, on top of whatever soap etc you may have used (dont use chemicals on CCB). Go burn it off. Otherwise, its probably just light glazing, which means...go burn it off. |

You have carbon ceramics. They are noisy. Inspect rotors, and make sure pads have life. If everything looks good its just normal CC sounds when cold.

Thank you all for the help/ advice. Yeah, I don’t drive my Z28 very often. It has been in storage for 5-6 months.
