I have seen a few prototype LS and LT motors. One was a 3.267 stroke LS3 5.57L. Also a 3.267 crank in a 7.0LT type block. That one was impressive.

But how did they get all the way down to a 302 5Liter.

The 2018 Copo with have a LT type 302 , 427, and supercharged 350.

Also there is a LT 7.0 build but they just couldn’t get the HP and emissions where they wanted.

With this 7.0 head and 4.125”+ bore it would flow very well with only 5.0L but would probably week low end torque curve.

4.065 bore with 2.94 stroke maybe. Should be a good engine combo for the Z/28 if so.

A stripped out ZL1 1LE chassis with a high-revving 302 would be awesome!

It might be cool but it would never make enough power. If it had the same power density as the LT1, it would be around 370 hp.

I don't see a big reason to make a 302 for a future Z28. The original Z28 was a homologation special for the SCCA Trans American championship which capped the displacement at 5 liters. Once the SCCA changed the rules and allowed the original car to have bigger engines which were then modded to 5 liters for racing, Chevy went to a 350 cubic in engine in the Z28 and has run as large as a 427 cubic inch engine (5th Gen car). That point of heritage has been dumped long ago in other words.

I was wondering about the 302 as well, but it is not NA in the situation it is being used in.

I can't see it being used in the Z28 because it would be barely more power than the V6. So it is going to be slower than the SS 1LE.

Chevy is not going to sell a stripped down car again, the lesson was learned with the 5th gen Z28. It just doesn't make good business sense just to "have a Z28" again.

You probably saw the Hot Wheels COPO, it has a supercharged LSX.

You’re welcome. Remember NHRA hp ratings is way different that SAE. That motor is at least 550 SAE hp or better to be an engine in a COPO Camaro. The LS7 is rated at 470 hp for the COPO. The 2016 COPO Camaro 6.2 engine was rated at NHRA 410 hp also.
