Seats
Surprised no one has started a seat question topic.
1: Can the seats be made to fully recline? Seats in the 1LE and ZL1 at the 50th event did but production models don't? 2: Can Lumbar support be added to future models? Particularly those that choose 2SS with leather- a $40,000+ car should have this feature.

Fully Reclining Bucket Seats....or Not?
What is the deal with the non-reclining seats that many are modifying on their own to get a comfortable reclined angle?
Recaro's seem to fully recline?....All others do not???....Is this a Camaro only non-recline feature?.... It appears to be an engineering design mistake that is just foisted on the owners. Thank you. dang...just saw this thread....sorry....http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=509927 Last edited by 90503; 10-06-2017 at 12:55 PM. |

Holy crap, I'm yanking my seats out next weekend!!! Can't believe I haven't seen these two DIYs before.
http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?p=9916378 http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?p=9883914 I really hope they adjust this with the 2019 models and a great question. Hopefully it doesn't have something to do with crash safety etc. |

I'd say if it had to do with safety, every make and model would have non-reclining seats, and the howl would come from everywhere. It looks like it's just a Camaro snafu. Definitely not a feature that is making anyone happy.
Those who have modded their seats back to normal have not reported any issues or problems that I've heard of. |

Yeah, maybe next year they will limit how far the driver and passenger doors open. Obviously they swing out way too unnecessarily wide now....Think of the door dings that could be prevented, or even keep a child from being struck with an opening door coming their way...
Eliminating the seat from fully reclining is way overdue. This new feature removal could be applied to the hood, trunk, glove box, etc., all which don't need to open as much as they currently do. I hope the Camaro engineers get on these issues soon. Seriously, though, the non reclining seats are about the most cheese-ball, hen-house, bone-head item on the Camaro to date. Someone should get fired for coming up with this uncomfortable, unforeseen, and rip-off feature. |

Here's my top pet-peeve....I know a lot "don't care" or are ok with how the seat is now, but a lot aren't or will be surprised when they go to recline like they used to be able to, but now can't...
Owners actually removing and modifying their own seat back to normal operation is something that should get the manufacturer's attention, and deserves an explanation.......Not to mention how many possible sales are lost from a showroom trial or demo of the seat that won't work for them. Upgradiing to a 6thGen is definitely out of the question for me unless this seat issue is corrected, then a possible reconsideration for a purchase will happen. A fully reclining bucket seat is what most take for granted....You get it most everywhere else except in a Camaro. Why is that? P.S. Perhaps the OP can edit the thread title into an acceptable question...Thanks. |

It's probably a safety feature to not crush a tiny occupant in the back seat.

The Camaro seats should be improved and allowed to fully recline, as other Chevy models do. Why has this reclining feature been eliminated from the Camaro?....Many find it's current design insufficient for their reclining needs and have taken steps to remove and modify the front seats just to be able to travel comfortably. This apparently unique Camaro non-recline feature deserves to be explained to current owners caught unaware of it, and why future buyers need to bear the uncomfortable experience of underperforming front seats. The rear seats are pretty much conceded to be unusable...at least make the front seats as comfortable and adjustable as possible. Thank you. P.S. "Bump"....lol... |

Wouldn't it be nice if your Camaro seat could do this, like the first Recarro ones they built showed they did fully recline?....Why the con-job/switch to non-fully reclining 6thGen seats with no reason given?

Given the support this topic seems to have, this may be a dumb question - but when/why has anyone needed their seats to recline this far?
