Switched power source for gauges

I installed my AEM wideband gauge yesterday. Installation was a snap with one major exception: despite searching for over an hour, I was unable to locate a switched 12v power source inside the car. All 12v wires I checked were not switched. The voltage on all of the switched wires that I could find had been stepped down to 5 - 6 volts. I connected to a 12v unswitched wire and temporarily installed a jury rigged switch under the dash so I could kill power to the gauge. Can anyone help me to locate a switched 12v wire?

You BCM, under the steering wheel, the black connector there's a small green and violet wire, there are 2 bigger same color wires but you can't use those. Use the smallest one.

Thanks! I'll give that a try. I checked a ton of those smaller wires and they all measured 6 volts. I'll check the green and violet one and report back.

Damn! I never considered the air bags. Strictly for better access, I disconnected the plugs before checking voltages, I may have inadvertently saved myself from a similar fate. Still have not tried the green/violet wire SlydrSS305 recommended, but I'm sure it will work as his car is pretty much identical to mine

Hey Lt1z350, check out a thread in the audio section entitled hardwiring a radar detector for more switched power options.

What wire is it and where in the center console?

The whole console comes out pretty easy there is a ground bolt under there too you can use I just tapped in under the consoles and ran my own wires out for later use.
