Sorry to hear that. If both you guys have a lot of hot start slow cranks on the current starter & starter solenoid then that could be the problem. Those slow cranks on a hot starter will over time damage the starter windings and adding a good ground can’t overcome that.

I’m convinced this is a combo problem of a starter that gets heat soaked because of insufficient heat shielding or poor starter design and it’s compounded by poor factory grounding. A healthy battery can’t overcome all that. The extra ground cable eliminates one problem and a healthy battery can then sufficiently crank a heat soaked but undamaged starter.

I went along with one of these class action suits once.

Grand total my "award" for my loss after all my record keeping and correspondence for 7 years was a little over $600 . Totally worth my time , paper and postage .
