I installed mine today with the help of these instructions as well. Now I'm legal & don't have to worry about getting hassled. Didn't take long, and I usually take a lot longer to do things the first time.

GM-ACE,

Thank you for the how-to. The document that was included with the front license plate bracket was nearly useless until I found this thread. Your pictures made it clear how the bracket is to be installed. My 2024 2SS now has that ugly license plate on the front. The front license plate requirement is just plain silly. Cops are behind you looking at your plate. If they were in front of you, viewing the front plate in their rear view mirror, it would be difficult to quickly determine the plate number because it mirrored. So stupid. Now they use cameras/computers to automatically scan your plate so why do we have to ruin the look of the front end of our cars? Sorry for the rant, government stupidity irritates me to no end. And we are paying for this stupidity. Okay, I promise I'm done ranting...or not. Next thing you know they will mandate side license plates as well. Boy, they'll look spiffy mounted on the doors. Okay, now I'm done. Thanks again.

The only purpose for front plates I can think of is to give extra area cops can hit with their laser from the front, because headlights can be difficult to aim at.

I used to live in NJ and bought a sto'n'sho removable front plate mount, keeping the plate with the removable bracket in the trunk. Never got a ticket, but even if I had, I would've just paid, there's no way I was gonna mess up my beautiful (2018) bumper (that required screws for the OEM bracket).

I ordered a Sto n Sho since I unfortunately live and work in Hochulworld. Thankfully, the Ohio dealership I purchased from didn't install the front plate per my request. Seems pretty straightforward from an install standpoint and innocuous in the grand scheme of things compared to the GM bracket.

Actually these days I think ALPR cameras are the bigger reason. If you back into a spot or even just driving right behind the cop car (or repo man) having the front plate makes a good scan more likely.

Not saying I support it (I think those cameras should be banned) but that's the state we live in anymore

I've been debating installing mine but then I heard UT is looking at doing away with them, too many people don't have them, its not a primary offence they pull over for and it would save the state something like $3.50 for each one they don't have to print so I'm just planning on coasting for now with the bracket in the trunk I can show the officer if I do get pulled over. (I swear officer, I just got it a couple of days ago, I just don't have a rivet gun to install it)

+1 to the tow bolt ZL1 Addon plate kit. MA requires this too, but I just keep the front plate in the trunk as "I swear I just got done showing/washing/taking pictures I'll put it on right now ossifer...."
Last 4 cars never ran a front plate and never got hassled, thankfully.
