Meth Heads
one simple question is it an option to install a meth kit or IS IT A MUST!!
currently the car is at the shop to install the upper pulley+roto fab +catch can+tune i've been searching , reading and watching videos online about it and i can't make my mind with it i feel that it dosen't worth it cuz i'm not going to tune the car to the max i just need some few hp's and it will be more than enough |

Im on the fence because i have heard of situations where the pump fails WOT and engine gone . I have had meth on all my builds including my current set up but i have it off and tuned without it. Ill probably get rid of it . E85 seems to be a safer option as the timing is regulated based on E content. I just got dsx flex fuel and will install next summer as on 93 i have more than enough power. I do put in boostane with every fill up .

I will be having my meth pump serviced every year but will also have another as back up while it’s out. Cheap insurance to get this done routinely. Makes tons of power. |

Thats completely true i just have had bad luck and have already lost a z06 110k and have been paranoid ever since . It wasn't due to the methanol but i have always been on edge since then and try to be as cautious to only control what i can and eliminate situations when modifying and since my choice of addiction is horsepower im always at high risk for more lol. Sorry for the rambling however to the OP when i had meth on my z06 it was fantastic and bang for buck it is a good option just have it tuned to pull timing if it fails

My build was originally dependent on meth as fuel. Now I upgraded intank, dsx, injectors and hpfp. I agree, its best to have it for cooling/timing/additional power but NOT as a fuel source.

If you keep an eye on the pressure light for your meth kit you won't have an issue. There is maintenance involved for sure and it's wise to have a back up pump (they aren't expensive) and change them every year. For us, I hit the test button before every time I go full throttle. It's easy and only takes a second but the car is fast enough where I really need to.
The LT4 engines love meth. They need the octane, the cooling and the extra fuel. You can tune them to use that extra fuel or not. But if you're not taking advantage of it you are going to be running extra rich. E85 is nice and it offers great octane but it's not going to cool the intake charge and takes more fuel system to run (something that is already an issue on LT4 cars) |

I do the same. I push the test button and make sure I see my A/F gauge go rich.

I test mine every day I drive it. Let car idle for a couple of minutes, more due to the cam. Then rev up and hold button for about 3 seconds. Light goes from red to green. RPMs will drop a bit and car will stumble a little due to the added enrichment. Then I can take off. After that I won’t text it for the whole day. Now if I’ve been driving it and have not been in boost much then I will hit the test button again before any pulls. Easy peezy
