2019 ZL1 / 1LE and a dead battery
I keep have issues with my battery. I have a battery tender that keeps it charged up, but if I run to the store and come back out to the car the battery is dead. Are these GM batteries junk or is this a consistent problem with these cars. I bought the car in December, I only have about 1000 miles on the car. Is there a better battery I should buy ?

I've got around 19,000 on mine (2018 model used as a DD) right now and I have yet to have a dead battery. I do however notice that sometimes after a short drive (ie stop for gas on the way to work) it will start *VERY* slowly. It always fires right up when cold, but once it's warm it likes to try and scare me into thinking it won't start. I have a booster pack just in case, but so far it's never let me down.

Yeah, every time I read those I think to myself..."sounds familiar" but I'm not taking it to a dealership so I'll deal with it!

Mine is not a daily driver, but I do keep it on a battery tender. This time, it started right up, I moved it over to another space in my garage, plugged the tender back in, for a couple hours, then I started it to pick up my daughter from school, she always begs me to pick her up in the ZLE, it started fine, no lag or slow start, and I was waiting in the pick up line for about 35 minutes and boom dead battery. I have had 19 Corvettes, everything from a C4 up and never had this kind of issue.

Battery tenders are junk. The GM trickle charger is junk.
Get an Optimate 6 https://www.amazon.com/OptiMATE-Ampm.../dp/B003UANXCE Quality....and believe me it works. Keep your battery on one of these when it's sitting during the week and it should last 5-6+ years Your daughter is cool. |

Sounds like you may need a new battery tender. these things do go bad. It may look it's charging, but actually isn't doing anything.

You definitely have a bad battery or a bad starter dude. My car sits from November to March every year and it starts right up.
That’s mot normal if you stop for 35 minutes and it won’t start back up.

Sometimes batteries just go bad. I took a quick look thru the warranty book and didn’t see any exclusion for the battery. Worth a shot.
I lost one on another car at about 11 months. Warranty only covered for six months.... |
