3.27 DIFFERENTIAL AND HP TUNERS CALIBRATION

My 3 year warranty finally expired this month, so I did this install yesterday. The donor car was a 2018 turbo Camaro with 18000 miles on it, and I paid $550 for the differential on ebay. . The part number on the stamp is 142003195 but GM parts direct shows 84371223. Also, The 2.77 and 3.27 have identical cases. First pic is the old one removed, and second pic is new one installed.

This is a direct fit for the A8 because it is non-LSD. All axels and drive shafts are a perfect fit. Simple unbolt and drop the old one and bolt the new one. I already have HP tuners and did a file calibration to the final gear ratio from 2.77 to 3.27. Its amazing the difference in acceleration and shifting that this makes. This has to be one of the best mods that you can do for the 3.6 engine. Its a shame that GM did not equip our cars with this in stock form!

It accelerates faster in all RPMS and I have probably knocked a couple of tenths from my 0 to 60. I will see what my acceleration timer APP shows later on today. Best I ever done prior to the mod was 5.09 seconds so I will see if I can beat this.

I'll be curious on your 0-60 since it will now have to shift into 3rd as well

Not good so far! Stock tires are worn bad, and I spun like crazy in 1st gear each pull. Best so far was 5.8 seconds However, it snatches 2nd gear and pulls crazy hard.

New tires are on the horizon, LOL!

Makes sense. Even if traction was the same it might not be any faster 0-60 due to the extra shift. Regardless like you said it pulls harder in every gear, and will accelerate faster overall. Due to the peaky powerband of this V6 I bet it feels like you gained 50 hp lol

oh for sure it does! But wait, what exactly do you mean by having an extra shift? Are you saying that the car wont enter Performance Shift mode anymore because of the taller gears? Maybe I am not understanding why it would skip 3rd gear anyway?

No what I mean is it will have to shift into 3rd before 60 if the shift RPM remains the same. With the stock 2.77 gear and height tire mine shifts at about 65 or so at 7000 rpm. I assume with the 3.27 it would be before 60? If so the stock 2.77 might do better 0-60 since it will be at peak power and won't have to make the shift into 3rd. Make sense?

Nice! That does make sense... maybe then I need to tune the shift points for this. But I can always wait till later. Thanks much for the detailed explanation.

No problem man, glad to help. One way to tell would be to find one of those online gear calculators. There may even be that info on this site, I'm not sure. This way you tell the difference before making any changes. But to be honest I would never base the decision on a 0-60 run only. There are so many other positives to be had with more aggressive gearing

The V6 M6 already has the 3.27 ELSD.

The 3.27 rear should make the car accelerate to 60 quicker and thru the 1/4 mile quicker by at least 2 tenths. The trans should shift at the same RPM wot. Have the trans tuned to allow all wot shifts at 6800 to 7k and have the shop bump the fuel shut of to 7200 rpm. I had a 2016 V6 manual with the 3.27 rear, the fuel shut off was right at 7k and I always had to shift 6500 to 6700 to stay off the fuel shut off.

The V6 manual doesnt have a elsd, it is a limited slip 3.27 geared rear. Maybe only a 1LE manual V6 car has the ELSD.

As far as I know the 1LE V6, still only has the LSD. You have to upgrade to the SS 1LE or the ZL1 in order to get the ELSD.
