The dyno results look about right to me. The Ported MSD doesn't shine until you port the heads and install a cam that will utilize it's upper rpm flow capability. The L86 was designed to make more low-midrange torque and the msd was designed to increase peak rpm and HP being the engine can utilize it.

Both are on e85. Similar mods.

Now that I see them laying there next to each other, I’m less confident that this intake manifold would fit under the stock hood. But, I hope someone has one laying around that they’re willing to test fit.

A year ago I posed this question about going to the truck based on the LS3 benefits and the idea was pooh-poohed.

I'll have a 5.3 truck intake soon as I'll be doing a 6.2 truck on a 5.3 truck for the bigger TB .... seems no one ports the 5.3 TB.

Based on the strut tower brace height I believe the intake will clear the hood but not sure of the cowl over-hang

perfect excuse to get a carbon fiber ZL1 type hood, just saying... or the IROC.

I was half a step away from buying one and several vendors steered me clear of it. If someone actually had one in stock, I may reconsider. The Anderson hood, that is.

L86 intake is 8 3/8"s total height without the insulator cover installed. Measured off the truck sitting flat on my tool box top. Hope that helps!

I wonder if the intake sits deeper into the valley than the LT1 intake. That could help offset the height of it a bit.

does the l86 have the foam under it like the 5.3s do? Cause if so they might not sit as deep. Anyone wanna donate to the buy and try fund?

IMO the best measurement would be from the top of the intake port (roof of the actual port) to the highest external point on the runners

There is foam under the L86 intake just like the LT1 but they are different. LT1 on left and L86 is on the right.
