Well that was a large displacement pushrod motor. If they are using a DOHC in that 5.5L range, it will definitely be much more emissions compliant. Still seems far fetched to me to get 700HP NA but who knows.

Not trying to start a Ford Vs Chevy debate but didn't Ford say they had a hell of time getting over 500 HP N/A and thats why they went FPC in the Voodoo? They had to be able to spin it to the moon to make over 500HP N/A

and now GM with a slightly larger engine is going to be able to make almost 200 more HP?

Agreed. 700HP sounds way too high for NA. More like a boosted version.

So now you are saying the 2019 Z/28 with have a F/I 5.5L pushing 700HP?
Thats awesome.

I'm not saying it, C&D "sources" are...for how much that actually counts. 700 NA HP and passing emissions is a pipe dream IMO.

But let's say they come in short of it by a lot. How about 585hp NA engine? That misses 700 by a lot but I would still be excited for that and if the price was "right" I would sell my SS to get it

What's really entertaining is their speculation that the motor could be a 5.5L DOHC DI/PI with a FPC.

It's like whoever wrote this just went..."Let's take some of what GM has done, what Ford has done, toss in a little Ferrari and say "sources tell us"".

These are the same idiots that spread the "Mustang going to 4.8L for 2018" rumor after the initial talk started on M6G.

Right... HA. I'll cross my fingers in hopes this has some validity but pretty confident in knowing this seems like clickbait from C&D...

Why don't they ask these same sources what the status of the ZL1 1LE will be in three or four years, when a new Z/28, as well as the Gen7(?) Camaro debuts?...

All this leaves out how much Forced Induction and Supercharging will advance horsepower and performance in the ZL1 and ZL1 1LE three years from now....Good luck with this new mystery N/A engine....It may go into a Z/28 that outperforms the LT4 in three years....That is, if they discontinue and make no improvements to the ZL1 1LE in the meantime...

Its not even April 1st... A DOHC V8 is likely in the works but this article looks and sounds like a joke

Not going to happen. There will not be a 6th gen Z/28. The top of the 6th gen food chain is the ZL1 1LE.

Stop and think what would be the price point?15K or higher than a ZL1? How many people would shell out that kind of money for a TRACK SPECIFIC Camaro when you can get a Z06 at the same price.

There is no business case for a Camaro that costs that much.
