Changes By Year for Gen6?

Hi folks,

Is there a thread here that describes the changes each year of gen6? I know some changes could be small. Also, I mean important changes, not the fascia/tailight/body changes that can be seen on pics. I'm curious of changes to drivetrain/cooling system/suspension/rear diff, etc.

Basically for gen6, I'm wondering if there's any reason to shop beyond 2016 or any particular year for that matter? Most interested in 1SS 1LE or maybe 1SS. Coupes & manuals. I tried searching "difference" and a ridiculous number of posts popped up.

By and large, the Gen6 has stayed mostly the same. There was a refresh of sorts in 2019, where for 1 year the mid-bumper was black instead of body color. In 2020, that reverted to match body color. To my knowledge there are no changes in engine, transmission, etc. just some minor cosmetic things - red tail lights to dar-tint taillights for example.

2019 had the weird front end and red goggle tails
2020 reverted the the normal front end and smoked goggle tails

The hoods are different in the 2016-18 they had the 2 side slits in 2019+ went to the mini-Z28 style center heat extractor.

You guys forgot the most important and fantastic update in MY 2018: a new windshield wiper fluid level sensor!

Other than that and the changes you guys listed, MY 2016 is the only one that allows playing video on the infotainment display and the A8 transmission is unlocked, so tuning is cheaper.

MY 2017 came with the optional F1FTY (50th anniversary) special edition.

MY 2019 introduced a brand new infotainment software platform with higher resolution screens (1080p instead of 720p), plus the upgraded wireless charging pad (works with newer phones now). It also introduced the optional electronic "rear vision camera" mirror that replaces the traditional rear view mirror and eliminates most rear visibility issues.

MY 2020 is nearly the same as 2019, the new LT1 trim was introduced, plus the rear vision camera was moved into the shark fin antenna from the middle stanchion of the standard SS/ZL1 spoiler.

MY 2021 and 2022 are pretty much the same as MY 2020, except the GM performance air intake is no longer offered.

A couple of color changes, styling packages, slight wheel design alterations, a few newly configurable options such as red seat belts on top of these, but that's pretty much it. The powertrains are exactly the same, except for the lower spec A10 transmission progressively replacing the A8 in 2019-2020 for several trims.

This is not an exhaustive or authoritative list, just the things I remembered. We have a few dealers in the forums, perhaps they can chime in with actual detailed info from the horse's mouth.

My 2020 Camaro SS had the camera in the middle of the spoiler.

Dang, that must have been a 2021 change then, pardon me. I thought you'd also comment (commend) on the amazing wiper fluid level sensor addition, though . Truth to be told, I have yet to see a message about the wiper fluid, I need to drive the car in the rain more

That's not a model year change - the convertible just has it in the spoiler as it lacks a proper roof to put the shark fin on

Sorry man, I was being a smart ass, I had a vert and it was on the wing. The coup got the fin-scope.

And for the record the 2020 was/is the best looking Camaro ever! Especially in RSBM!

Hey man, to the forums

I almost knew going in I should create a table or something, this free flow format is too vague for such detailed information. Yeah, it (LPO RVK) was deleted for 2022 and you probably got one from the tail end
