Ordering a 2022 ZL1

I contacted a local dealer to inquire about ordering a 2022 ZL1 and was told they were "constrained" and could not be ordered. Then they tried to sell me a 2022 2SS that was in transit. Why would a ZL1 not be available, but a SS is. Does anyone have any Chevy connections that can find out for sure.

Thanks....Mike Jones

I read something on, I believe GM Authority earlier this year that production would be limited on certain models once production started, the ZL1 and ZL1 1LE being one of them, it even went down to the color as well.

Joe so does that mean that particular dealer doesn't didn't have an allocation and didn't want to take a deposit?

I found a dealer that had 1 allocation and ordered one in June. Hasn't been manufactured yet but should be shortly after they start back up.

Which dealer was this? Probably just trying to foist a car on you that they already have in inventory on you rather than taking your order. I am not sure they do have an allocation, but the fact they don't have their very basic facts straight on ZL1 availability says to me that you should find another dealer.

I too just ordered a 2022 ZL1 1LE on September 13th. I've been a long-time reader of these forums but just recently created an account.

I understand that the ordering process results in a lengthy wait - which I have accepted and I'm ok with.

However, is there any idea of the time frame from when the order is placed to when the order is actually accepted by GM? My fear is not the wait but that I will wait an extremely long time to find out that my dealer doesn't have any allocations available for this vehicle.

The dealer that you ordered from could not tell you if they had an allocation? I am getting ready to order a ZL1 also and curious on the process. Last car I ordered was a '99 Z28.

I did ask about the allocation. They said the order was placed and provided me with the paperwork for the order. The manager I spoke with was not the inventory manager but he did assure me that there would be no issues in placing the order. I’ve ordered numerous cars over the years and never worried about allocations nor did I have any issues with the orders. This aspect of the process is new to me.

Should I be more persistent in ensuring that this dealer has an allocation for the car I order?

ZL1s are orderable. There will be a little wait depending on allocation and factory closures.
