I dislike both chrome and red, so got to kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

I removed my emblems, removed adhesive from car and them, scuffed and painted. Sprayed the rear and grill emblems in NFG and hood emblems in gloss black.

Designed some new "1" inlays in CAD and cut them out on my vinyl cutter. Took a few tries to get them just right. Original plan was to go orange, but after testing it stood out way too much, especially against the black. Tried silver, still too bright. In the end, the rear & grill emblems got gloss black inlays, while the hood received dark gray inlays.

A month later got froggy and skinned an emblem in 2x2 twill carbon fiber. I should have posted my thread in here, but pics of process are here:

https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showt...php?p=11049984

I've cleared it, just need to install and see how they look. Considering doing a set in forged to see which looks better (if either), may prefer NFG.

I would do the same except we are still stuck with the bowtie in the front in chrome

Man... I know! It sucks our chrome trim is plastic welded to the upper grill so only way to remove it is to pull the front bumper. I'd probably already have done that by now, but being it's my daily plus paint cure times it's hard to find enough time without the car to do it.

I do have an idea that may or may not work out, but I need to find the time to measure and model it in 3D first.

Maybe try some tinted paint protective film over the emblems?

I attempted wrapping mine with some 3M 1080 (air release) in gloss black. I have some wrapping skills, but knew before I started I wasn't going to have near enough, but had to try. Even a professional wrapper may have to do in sections, the inside of the flow tie has the sharp 90 over plus the inside areas of each corner. Unfortunately protective film will be even worse due to thickness.

Plasti-dip is always an option and a pretty easy one, I just apparently don't like easy, lol. It's just a last resort option for me.

I used shadow chrome on my 2019 chrome bow tie to darken it. Turned out well. I didn’t use their clear though, used the two part spraymaxx (not cheap but is awesome).

Have to start some where so took some measurements and started modeling the OEM flowtie. I'll update as I go, may start my own thread but will link it here if so.

Is the ZL1 flow tie the same as the 2019. I don’t think it is….

I agree, I don't think it is the same as 2019 either. Only because it is not removable from backside like the '19. I can provide a dimension if you like to see, I'm curious as well.
