Why is this car $40,000?

It says it has $6K worth of dealer added options, but does not list what they are. If not its a $34K 2LT, which is probably about the right list price. No idea what the ads are.

Maybe it has the ultimate catch can?!?!?!?

From the similar vehicles shown below, I think the 2.0L turbo might have one as well. It is priced the same as a V8 around $37k.

I own the exact same car with rally package ! I bought mine just a month ago with zero miles for 21,900$ after 9 grand in factory rebates and incentives. Dealers are making incredible deals now clearing for the 2016s coming in. Those dealers are crooks for sure

I have known people to pay stunningly high prices for things, from guns to cars to tools, when they had no clue what the going prices were elsewhere, but just assumed, or were told by the salesman, that this was a good deal. It may be that this dealer is fishing for somebody like that.

The dealership MIGHT get price from some chump... or, he might just end up selling it for "normal" profit to somebody a little more savvy. No loss, either way.

Well it looks like it's got the NPP exhaust... Dual rear tips.

Is that even available on the LT?

I contacted the dealership.

The pictures aren't current. They added a grounds effects kit & wheels. I'm not stating it's a good deal, simply the reason for the mark-up.

The following picture was sent to me.
