Recommended oil filter doesn't have anti-drain back valve??

Hi All, I'm ordering my oil change kits and realized that the oil filter (PF64) doesn't have an anti drain back valve. Should I be looking for a filter that does (RP, Mobile 1, Wix) or is the AC Delco efficient enough? I find it strange that an engine like this would use an valve from the start. Thoughts?

That’s the filter the dealer recommended and uses regularly. If car is under warranty I wouldn’t use anything but dealer filter.

It’s what I use also. Probably not the best, but chevy is warranting the engine, then on them if it ain’t.

PF 64 or you may have other issues with relief pressure etc. I've been tracking my ZLE for 3 years and, other than the pump failures, never heard of an oil starvation related engine failure on track even with 140 MPH+ NASCAR banking like ACS or Daytona.

Pump failures dont seem to be related to track use, heavy or otherwise.

This oil filter has been used in all types of applications for the ZL1. From stock to heavily modded. From garage queen to track rat.

The oil filter is solid and has had 0 negative effects on the Camaro.

I haven't had any issues with my car in the past 3 years, 26k miles and it's driven year round (good Georgia weather) and tracked, hard, at least twice a year. From autocross to road course.

You can do whatever you want with your vehicle, it is your vehicle. But if there is nothing wrong with an OEM product, why change it?

PF64 does have an anti-drain back valve. Tons of YouTube videos dissecting the filter show that it has one. Where did you get that info?

I use a Mobil 1 or a Napa Gold on my ZL1 with no issues but if you are concerned about warranty then use the AC/GM filter.

Unless you're going speed bump jumping, PF63E fits.

Most likely no issues with the OEM filter based on several oil analysis.

GM will stand behind the motor with OEM parts and this filter has been around a long time. A lot of engineering went into this motor and they're not going to skimp on the filter.

I feel comfortable with the PF64 and UPF64R for all applications or the PF63E in a pinch.

THANKS FOR THIS!!! I probably don't need the extra capacity of this filter, and think like an old school-car guy, so I like large filters. This fits the bill nicely! Thanks!!!

Thanks everyone for the replies! I'll stick with the AC one since it's still under warranty for AWHILE yet.

Unknown Jinx, I may have not looked hard enough but all the other filters (mobile 1, RP, etc) all say they have an anti drain back valve in them, the AC one doesn't seem to say it anywhere so figured it didn't have one . Thanks for that info !

This filter would give me nightmares, you guys are braver than me.

All you have to do is make one mistake navigating a weird driveway ramp, canyon road edge or pothole or drive over something on track like an errant cone at 140+, things not too large late at night that could strike it while doing no damage to anything else.

There is almost no protection, PF64 sits nicely tucked away and I wish that was more protected

Judge for yourself - it sits pretty far up there, if you are worried about driveway, you got heck lot more damage to worry about.
