1LE Hood Wrap
Ordered a 2 SS 1LE in Feb. Showed up last Monday. Salesman who I have known for a bit called me. Went up there and they are using a 30 tear old brush and who knows what was in the bucket as soap/water. I asked them to stop, they did. Went inside to do paperwork. Didnt realize they pulled it up to the sales area and let half soaking wet drying in the sun.
Go to leave, hoop wrap has swirl marks, white patches and dark stains. Told my salesman about it. He looked at it and said if they don't come out we got you covered. I worked on it for a week. Got some out, other stuff still there. Texted my guy about. Reply was I will get with the detail manager tomorrow. Great the same guy who let them use the old ass brush. Anyone else go through this. Will they replace. Factory OEM stuff, outsourced, dealer body shop etc. just a little concerned. |

Peel it off, your car will look better and your life will be a lot easier. If you/dealer plan to replace it go with a satin black, it should be slightly easier to maintain than that flat.

i do know that the guy i used to re-wrap my hood was the same one that did it for the dealership in town. local vinyl shop.
with that being said, the factory matte wrap was beginning to peel and generally looked like shit after 1.5 years of garage storage and honestly i didn't like it to start with. i had it replaced with satin black as aforementioned and it looks 100% better.

Best mod i did to my ss 1le was the removal of the wrap. Life is too short to deal with that and the paint under it way better.

I find it the best advice and then very tough to do but refusing delivery on the car when it has problems like this is probably the best way to get ahead.
As said if you think it's an option for you, it can be peeled right off and it's body color underneath. |

I would have them pay a third party to rewrap it. Then I would tell them not to do anything to the car after. Take it home and throw some sealant or coating on it.

I would always be sure that the dealership knows not to touch a brand new (ordered) car of mine. I'd hate to see what the rest of the car looks like, if the wrap is as you describe.
I hate that the term detailer is used for the guys at the dealership, because they are far from it. A person that puts in little care for the vehicle, with the wrong management, isn't a true detailer. Anyway, either have the wrap done by a reputable third party or peel it off and be done. |

I'm dealing with this same scenario myself, picked up my 1LE on Saturday and there are swirls everywhere. Now they want me to drop the car back off for the day so they can apply some kind of ceramic coat that no ones ever heard of. They can't even wash a new car so I think I'll pass on that one also.

They clearly don't know what they're doing. The Detail Manager shouldn't be in that role if he's letting them use some old dirty brush on an enthusiast's car.

Thanks for all the help/suggestions. The dealership got in touch with me this morning. They want a chance to fix it and he said, if not, they will replace it. Hopefully they get a OEM wrap and send me to a pro installer.
I could live without the wrap and just remove it. But I think its neat looking and is part of what makes it stand out as a 1LE. On the flip side, without the wrap you don't have the issues that mine and quite a few others have had. |

I like the look of the 1LE's matte black wrap. As you said, its part of the 1LE look. It also saved me the expense of putting Xpel on the hood. When the OE wrap goes bad, I'll have it redone aftermarket. I wipe it with Meticulous Matte Detailer after I wash. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I do like the matte look. I would make your dealer pay a professional shop to rewrap it. Then after it's rewrapped I'd have it ceramic coated.
