Is the RS package a poor value for the LT1?

Hopefully picking up my LT1 today and it has the RS package. I like the items in it and was thinking it would include different wheels, but that seems to be the case only for 1LT - 3LT. Mine has the standard LT1/SS wheels.

So for nearly $1500, this doesn't seem like a very good value. Is there a thread somewhere showing exactly how these are different from the base units? The tail lights and black emblems seem pretty obvious.

-20" 5-split-spoke premium Gray-painted, machined-face, aluminum wheels on LT models
-Signature LED lighting
-Dark tint taillamps
-Black front and rear bowtie emblems
-RS-specific front grilles
-Decklid-mounted lip spoiler on Coupe models (Stanchion spoiler standard on Convertible models)
-Body-color fin-style antenna on 1LT, 2LT and LT1 Coupe (standard on 3LT Coupe and all Convertible models)

With my 2010, the RS got me 20" wheels vs. 19" and HID headlights plus other items similar to the above. All for the same approx. $1500.

I didn’t think it was worth it. I just ordered mine with the few items I really wanted. I didn’t really care for some fancy lighting and rs badges.

Nope. The only option worth having is already included; 6.2L V8.

Its more about the lights with the RS package. If you like that look then its worth it since it would cost you a lot more to add those later.

I don't think it's worth it either. If you order a convertible, you get even less.

I agree that is is not great value for the money. I would much rather have NPP or the infotainment upgrade. Mine is bone stock, minus the red calipers.

I have my car home now. I thought this item meant there would be LED interior lighting like the ambient: "Signature LED lighting".

But I don't see anything like that and nothing in the setup menus. I think they only mean LEDs for the taillights.

Pretty annoying how poorly they describe some option items and fail to picture them.

Well worth it IMO, just for the better looking LED headlights (same lights the SS has), and blacked out taillights. As someone already mentioned above, upgrading to these later on will probably cost more, and be a pain to install. When ordering a car, the RS package does allow you to upgrade to other wheel options for less than you would otherwise pay.

What's the difference between the regular LT1 LED headlights and the RS package SS LED headlights?

I have an LT1 and my LED headlights look good and are bright AF.

Im a contrarian. I think worth it. Factory installed kit that I’d pay same if not more for. No hassle installing. Adds little edge to the car. I specifically wanted It in my allocation & color.

The RS package generally comes with the same headlights you get on an SS, plus badging and a black bowtie. They also add chrome accents on the lower portion grille. They also give you the dark tail lamps that you see on the SS, as opposed to the regular red ones.

Generally, they throw in new rims as well. But, they do not do this for the LT1. In my opinion if I was getting a base model Camaro or an LT1, I would have to go get the RS package even if it is a $1,500 - $2,000 option. The base fascia just does not do it for me, while the RS looks more aggressive and muscle car looking. I would say its worth it as many people who have the money do a conversion on the fascia, but some people don't mind the looks.

I think the RS package would be worth it, because if you decide you want the RS tail lights & headlights after the fact I guarantee you’re going to be spending $1,500 or more and adding in the labor involved. This even if you could add the headlamps. If you don’t care about that stuff then don’t get the RS package. I’m trying to figure out what options are worth getting & which are not, but if I ordered an LT1 it would absolutely have to have the RS package. I’m looking at ordering an LT1 or 1SS but for me when I get done the musts, the LT1 is $750 less than a 1SS with the same options.
