How do you measure Hz?

I need to tension my SC'er belt. And I am suppose to measure it in Hz. How do I go about doing this?

I don't see how that helps. No where does it say anything about tensioning your belt to a certain Hz. Maybe if I needed a new belt it might help me pick one....

Man I so respect guys doing all of this work themselves. The downside is issues like this and makes it seem worth paying the $$$ for professional installation, though it is VERY expensive!

Surely there is some sort of conversion from Hz to ft lbs or some other measurement that makes more sense?

I am rooting for you C701LE . . . Lets get that thing on the road!!

Am I missing something, but Hz is referring to frequency right? Is there a resonate frequency of the belt that is being referred to here?

There is always more than one way to skin a cat. Why not just use the right belt?

You can simply refer to the Hash marks on your tensioner.

There is a minimum and maximum tension range.

We like to select a belt that is very close to the Max tension range IDLING, so as the belt stretch it will take up for it.

Belts don't stretch. They are not rubber bands.

Cords in the belts run radially and when they fail the belt breaks.
Tires can change in diameter because the belts are installed diagonally to improve flexibility and provide a smoother ride and better contact with roads.

Belts can wear on the inside if, and only if, they slip, but the OD never changes.

Without being disrespectful you are incorrect in your conclusion.

The do act just like rubber bands.

The reason we need a spring loaded tensioner, the more load you put on the belt the longer it gets and the tensioner has to take up that extra length.

Also the reason why Manual tensioner don't work and always experience belt slip.

Well guys, thanks for the replies. It is the correct belt that came with the kit. There is no "spring" tensioner. It is an allen bolt set up, and the directions tell you it is measured in Hz (frequency). I downloaded the Gates app, but that is all it says to do. I don't know if I have to use my phone in the right spot when it is running. Or, just pull up on that spot and let it "boing". I asked on the Kraftwerks 5th Gen facebook page. And all I got was shit for not knowing what to do......

As an engineer, I can tell you that they do indeed stretch. Less than the old belts made decades ago, but still significant stretch. Even my 2014 Sierra AC belt, without a tensioner, is stretched to install it. The stretch is the tension very much like a rubber band. The cords in a belt run circumferentially, not radially. The cords are braided, which allows for stretch.

To the OP, if they want you to tension the belt by adjusting the frequency, I would guess you'll need a strobe light with adjustable frequency to identify the belt slap frequency.
