Best rain setup?

When it comes to the SS 1LE or even ZL1 for that matter, what is the optimum wheel/tire setup for the track in wet weather? I'm completely happy with the staggered SC3 setup on the stock 20" SS 1LE rims but I'm now thinking about getting an enclosed trailer and if I do that I might as well get a wet tire set up since the SC3's are just terrible in my opinion in the wet.

I'm thinking of going MRR for wheels and then whatever is the consensus best wet weather tire for the track. Would you go with a staggered setup, square? Would you maybe even run a skinnier tire/wheel since it's wet weather only? Inquiring minds want to know

another vote for MPSS 4

Here is a good overview from Apex, a Ring Taxi service. They talk about dry, wet, and longevity of each tire. I think it's a pretty good overview

PS4S I've heard Alot of good things about. And as far as wheels go I'd probably just go with either some take off 1LE or ZL1 wheels or some replicas would be good. Obviously Im not going to blow Alot of coin on rain wheels.

So just stick with the staggered setup?

MPSS 4 or Yokohama A052.

MPSS 4 for a completely wet or raining situation and the A052s if it drying or wet/dry.

I run 285/35/19 Michelin PS4S on 19x10.5 for my rain set-up. It works fantastic for cutting through the puddles and driving through a monsoon.

I run 315/30/18 Yokohama A052 on 18x12 for my all around autocross tires. They work in the wet as long as there are no puddles.

Yes sir, 18x12 squared. I have KW V3 coilovers with a 18x12 +6 wheel up front with a 3 mm spacer and -3.8° of camber. The rear is 18x12 +41.

So bringing this thread back, so I see the best tire so far for dedicated rain tire is MPS4S. I use Apex wheels with 3R for dry and will probably get another set of wheels with dedicated rain tires. So looking for suggestions

I would run APEX SM-10 19 x 10.5 ET22 Square setup with MS 4S 305 30 19 tires. I run this setup when I am daily driving or on WET track days. There is no better setup in my opinion. I have run several WET track days with these and they are EXTREMELY predictable.

Sounds like the stock wheels with some mps4s are the way to go.

Best rain setup, staggered arm chairs under a tent,,,

Else MP4S, even with those, hydroplaned and went 4 off at Road Atlanta in the Esses in Track Wet mode, Kept it straight but made for a wild long ride thru the grass and mud. Only took a few sessions to figure out not much fun,,,,, at a different track with different platform like Roebling with the M4 or MX5,,,, more fun.
