CSP headers

Finally got my set of headers in hand and hope to install in the next week.

Anyone have any gotchas to look out for when I go to do this? Packing was very well done and the kit had everything I should need for the install.

Bolt hardware was crap. I reused the manifold bolts and replaced the collector to exhaust bolts with grade 8 stuff. Their hardware froze and the collector bolts just twisted off when I dropped the exhaust a year later.

Ok. I appreciate that. Grade 8 makes more sense anyway and is more piece of mind than anything else.

How much louder over the stock headers are these to you?

And thanks for the honest input.

Be aware of the passenger side wiring harness by the coolant tank. That's where most folks run into problems of it melting against/near the header. Zip tie it away real good.

Pretty loud in the upper rpm with the valves open. If it’s too much there’s a good thread in the zl1 section on where to place a resonator. Katech has weighed in with some good options there as well. Good luck

I will be sure to keep that in mind. Thanks for the info.

I did see from someone that putting a magna flow resonator in the tunnel will help a lot. And I do a lot of highway miles so less is better. I'll look for the katech info.

And I have the Spartan SS with no NPP. AWE catback on the car now which I'm happy that it'll not involve any welding to make it work from what it looks like.

Much appreciated.

Glad you got them...
CSP customer service sucks... and i'm not the type to moan and groan and post garbage about things but this ticked me off.
Been trying to get a set for months now with no luck.
Can't get on a waiting list, site will say they're in stock but not, or as right now have some in stock but won't sell them online install only... Let me make an appointment I'm only about 2k miles from your shop....
What a load of crap.... you'd have been better off telling me you didn't have any and that the website needs to be updated. Again.
My money will spend somewhere else and from another vendor.
Sorry to hijack your thread...

Once again op glad you got them and everything works out well for you...

It may not happen to you but I’ve done 2 sets of headers on these cars. The first install had O2’s that destroyed the threads upon removal. The 2nd install was fine. I’d say to expect the unexpected.

If you end up needing either upstream or downstream for your SS.
