Shipping Large Parts

Anyone have experience or some advice on shipping large parts from the west coast to the east coast without spending a ton of money?

This is the largest part I'm shipping.

USPS is usually the cheapest. UPS and Fedex charge a lot.

Best is if you know someone with an account with a trucking company.

Think I'd try to work out a deal with the receiving party about curing that brace so it could be shipped in a half size then the way it is now . My 2 cents .

Your best bet is Fed Ex or UPS freight, you can also log onto uship.com and get pricing I shipped a Camaro SS bumper from Orlando to Tulsa several years back for around $250

Set up your own account on Fed Ex or UPS. You get discounted rates.

You can negotiate with LTL carriers (YRC, etc.) as well even without an account. LTL carrier accounts typically get 70+% discounts off published rates. Pack it up really well because they get thrown around quite a bit.

My suggestion: request a quote at NMFC class = 100 and insured @ whatever value you want, and ask for 50-60% discount. Should be <$250 coast to coast for what's in the picture. Label it well as "TOP LOAD ONLY".

If you can cut that welded link and ship the two pipes separately, UPS should take them. Just don't use a UPS store (franchises, horrible markups). Take it straight to a UPS hub ready to ship.

UPS from Albany, OR to Arlington, VA via UPS (shipped as 2 pcs, residential delivery, no discounts):
