Well-known vibration issue suddenly "went away"?

So this is strange, maybe one of you folks can tell me why this happened:

For a couple months I've had the "vibration problem" that seems to be common in these cars, related to the torque converter/trans flush, etc. I took it to my dealer, and they couldn't replicate, although I could at will. I had planned on taking it back and showing the service manager...

Then I got rear ended.

The accident bent the exhaust (NPP), and was replaced along with the body work, etc. It did not at any point go back to the dealer.

I picked up my car on Friday, drove it all weekend, and the vibration issue seems to be gone. Very, very strange.

What happened? Did the exhaust shop have to reset a computer in my car or something? Why would the problem suddenly disappear after body and exhaust work?

lol
I read about how the NPP exhaust has certain valves that open and close and cause some shudder/vibration. I do not know enough about this, hence I didnt post earlier. Silence is golden and all that.

The exhaust valves do not cause the whole car to vibrate.

The NPP valves may not cause the whole car to shake...but they cause some vibration/sound at cruising speeds (at least on mine it did). I know this because it happened to me. I had put fuse 51 back in to play with the stealth settings and then forgot about it. I was driving on the highway and noticed a small vibration/hum while at highway cruising speeds. I thought I had the TC shudder. Then I remembered I had put that fuse back in..Duh. Pulled it out and sound/vibration was gone. Apparently the valves close a little (even in track mode) while cruising on the highway.

Yes, I know, I had that, too.

Ask the shop if they aligned the rear wheels.

Good chance they did something in the drivetrain with the repair.

It's not that. The vibration would only occur when the car went into AFM mode, and only if you REALLY lugged it (BARELY on the gas, staying in AFM.), but it was DRASTIC, felt really, really wrong. Most noticeable about 30-35 MPH, then less and less noticeable as your speed increased. Sounded just like the torque converter/trans triple flush problem that many, many people had.

I'm wondering about the "shift tables" or similar term that I'd read about. My thinking was that something in the car's ECU/firmware/software got reset as part of the exhaust replacement.

I love the posting of an inexplicable and unintuitive change to your car's performance with you asking opinions from the forum then indicting the forum for its silence, and finally giving attitude to any that attempt to offer a theory.

Since you apparently have all the answers, how about you just PM them to the half of your brain that's still confused with the issue since the other half seems to have pretty much nailed it down by process of elimination.

I love that you love it, douche.

It's not like others haven't had the converter-based vibration issues. It's all over this forum. I was hoping someone that knew more than I did would chime in. The only "attitude" I have displayed is in the initial lack of response. The rest of my replies are simply very direct.

Sorry I couldn't candy coat things enough for ya there, Shirley.
