1st track day in the books, but failed sound. where to get turndowns

So I had my first track day today and it was a blast! Unfortunately after my 3rd session was over they said I failed sound (96db limit). Is there any recommendations for turndown pipes? They said I hit 99db.

I avoid tracks with sound limit. I do not support that crap. You're a damn race track for F sakes.

In my own experience, turnouts are only good for 1/2 db at best. After I blew sound at Laguna (with the turnout extensions), I simply learned where the sound-booth is, and now I just back off the throttle as I go by the booth.

In my opinion do whatever it takes to make sound at AMP! I've done 3 track days there and I really like the track layout and the facility. It's pretty easy to put on the MacGyver cap and make your own turndowns with parts from Autozone or any of the other parts places. There's a "Platinum" day at AMP this Friday (12th) morning from 8-12. If you have a chance go out there and find out what the other folks are using. I've seen a few ZL1 guys running with "extra plumbing". In the pic you can see a Mustang (parked next to my C5) with some pretty big 90 deg turns. The "rule" at AMP is turn them to the right and slightly down.

The few sessions I got in before getting tagged for sound, I had alot of fun. The track seems like its really fun as I watched other classes race in my down time. A plus is I live 10 mins from there too. The sound does suck, but there were a few cars ALOT louder than me and somehow they passed, but I know alot had those turndown things on.

I just have to find who ever it is that has the turndowns locally.

I agree. Its dumb. Specially since the track literally bumps up against 1 of the runways of the air force base (Luke a.f.b.)

Laguna is a lot of fun. I went once when I had a GTR on a 105db day. Didn't have to lift.
