ok remember when i told you guys about the 427... well actually i picked up the engine today and its not a 427... ill post pictures tomorrow...the engine i got from my dads friends is a brand new 572 drag motor... i have no clue what im going to do with it... any suggestions... i dont even know what it can fit into... i think i might sell it for camaro cash... but my dad wants to keep it.... the only road vehicle ive seen it in is a 70 monte carlo.... my dad wants to put it into a 96 impala ss.... please help... any other suggestions and knowledge about this motor... 720 hp, 685 lb-ft.... :( :( :(

depending on your fabrication skills, you can get it into nearly any engine bay you desire.

its on a mini crane right now at my dads work... i need to just drop it in... something easy like an impala or monte... man i have no clue where im going to drop it...

and something i dont need to change to much of the mount patterns... i know i will have to change rear end, and susp. and among other things that associate with the power... but i want an easy and reliable swap for this

something else to keep in mind, is this going to be fuel injected or carbd? the motor mounts might match up, but actually getting the motor to fit (with headers and all accessories) is a whole nother story.

thats what i mean i want something that motor mounts easy... and my research is showing me some options... 70's chevelle's... 1st gen impalla's...1st and 2nd gen monte's...thats all i can find... right now

it will fit into '53-'57 Chevys, too, but there will need to be some fab work done for the motor mounts and crossmember


those are all that I can think of off the top of my head... a 4th gen can accept the motor, but you will have to have a custom K-member to mount the motor mounts to... but the swap has been done before and there are, I believe a few folks on LS1Tech that might have some insight as to where to start with this swap.

my personal favorite behicle to put it into is a '68-'72 Chevelle, but that's just because I used to have a 427 powered '69 Malibu

i'm dont even know if this engine is the 110 octane required 720 version or the 620 92 octane version... lol wow... a 30000 motor in my garage... no car to put it in and dont know what to do with it...

the first monte came out in '70, and they had big blocks, too, so it will fit in there... I believe the '70-'77 models all had the same engine bay, but different bodies... I believe the '78 model was when the change over happened and the Monte went to a small block only design... this design and the Malibu design coincided with each other, so whenever they changed over, it was a universal changeover.

also, the El Caminos up until '77, I believe, were capable of handling a big block.

all the Impalas up until the changeover in '77 could handle a big block... the first Impala was the '58 model, so there's about 20 years of big block capability in those, too.
