I'm going to wait for the second year of the C8 Z06 to come out to jump ship.

If I had the $$$ to get either car as a toy, my rear end would 100% be in the C8 over the ZL1

I am drooling over the C8, but my finances are not such that I can run out and order one. Maybe in 3 to 6 years if the used ones depreciate nicely, I may see if I can do it.

My plan is to trade the SS 1LE in for one after they release (hopefully) the "Grand Sport Version" Z06 widebody with base engine. I figure 2 to 2.5 years from now, call it 3 to let the hype die down on it.
My SS 1LE will be 4 years old by then, so the timing should be about perfect.

My ZLE is a perfect car to get me through the next 2 years waiting for Corvette bugs to be ironed out, and track worthiness proved.
And if everything works out perfectly, Chevy doesn't put the LT5 in the Camaro so they don't steal Corvette thunder and the Camaro 7 is cancelled. I know it's selfish, but this would preserve ZL1 values for the trade-in. Unfortunately things never seem to work out that well :-) |

I'll most likely sell my C7 and get a C8 Z06 when available. I'll be keeping the ZL1.

Camaro has a backseat and the C8 doesn't. They're more likely to share the same garage than be a replacement.

I currently have a ZL1 and a C6ZR1. When the bad boy C8 comes out in a couple years I will probably trade the ZR1 and get it. The ZL1 however is a keeper. It's a 2017 so I will probably trade up for a newer one in a year or so. The good news is I am a 30 year Chevy dealership employee!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now that my initial excitement over C8 has cooled off, I’m realizing that come spring there will be Corvettes popping up on lots with sticker prices comparable to a ZL1. GM is likely to have stacks of cash sitting on the hoods of leftover 19s. C8 rewrites the book on performance value for the dollar but at the end of the day just too many dollars for me. If the 2018 close out sales were any indication then my GM points could get me into a new leftover 19 ZL1 for $50 and change. If things play out that way it will be a no-brainer for me.

I came from a C7Z06 that went through a dealer buy back because of to many defects on a new car. I Love the ZL1 1LE but I miss the exotic feel, the wife already said she is keeping the ZLE so I will have both in the garage.

My SS 1LE on the other hand, has been just about perfect (san the clucking end links). Corvette in my experience thus far has just been sub-par in quality. I hope that changes for the C8 because DAMN it is calling my name in a few years when the "Grand Sport" version arrives.
