Bigmouth Snorkel - Velossa Tech
I was on Wildhammer Motorsports site earlier this morning and saw something that’s new (to me), at least... Bigmouth Snorkel from Velossa Tech. Anyone knowledgeable on this product?

Pupilbone, my advice would be to get a Roto-Fab for your ZL1 if you already haven’t bought one. I was thinking about that part you saw and I didn’t want to take the front end apart to install it and the RF is easy to install and take off if you decide to sell your ZL1 one day.

It is basically a "ram air " style setup for your car to increase the amount of air available for it to use. Pontiac has been doing it for years! I'm sure you would see a gain on the topside. Down low , not so much. I had something similar on a 2002 Trans Am WS.6 I owned called the "jaam ram air". It essentially opened up the snouts on the front by removing the baffels to allow more air in. Made a big difference on the high side. Man, I miss that car!

Yeah jb54, I had something similar on my 1998 SS that was sold by SLP Performance parts. It was a scoop that was mounted in front of the radiator and I had to cut the plastic panel leading to the underside of the airbox lid. It also had a SLP high flow lid that I installed.

I know the system you are referring LT4 Greg. I had the same setup on my 2002 SS before I traded for my TA. Those cars responded very well to mods!

Awesome thanks guys.
LT4Greg - I’ll definitely be taking your advice on the RotoFab, just waiting until the weather’s a little more hospitable up here to order and install. The Camaro’s still hibernating

If you plan to go the ram air route you should get an enclosed A/filter box.
Some of these CAI's are open and all the pressure will leak out.

Theoretically they are supposed to create a seal with the hood or the liner, aren't they?

The RF seals against the bottom of the hood.

Just seems (to me) too expensive for a small 3D printed piece of plastic.
But I have not seen real world test data either. Didn't Pray say some time ago he was also pursuing something similar? I don't recall seeing how that went. |

Just an fyi, you don't have to take apart the front end to install it. I've put mine in and out of two 6th gens now. It in combination with my rotofab it has no lack of ambient air. I do not see it actually having a ram air effect but, directing nothing but outside air right into the throat, it surely does.
