Exactly.
When I drove the car home when new, (in tour mode) every time I let off the gas you heard two little pops. Sounded like when you rode over expansion joints on the highway.

When in sport or track mode, burble bang burble!

i waste SO much fuel just accelerating to 2800-3000 rpm and letting off, just to hear it pop and gurgle. I wish i had tunnels near by.

I have yet to experience the gunshot loud but then again I have not played with it much prewarmup. Mine is definitely loud though, and with the rear seat laid down I can hear it much better.

seat down! why didnt i think of that!

The gunshot loud only happens when its cold, in track mode, accel and release around 2800rpm or so. Modern ECU's are programmed to rev high and burn a little extra fuel at warmup so that the cats heat up quickly and start working faster (this is also why cats are closer to the engine than they used to be). Because of this condition, the backfire during this time is louder.

I know the Camaro is not the first car to do this, but I have to wonder how the cats handle programmed backfires, etc. They're not fond of raw hydrocarbons, incomplete combustion, etc. I'm sure it was tested, but it still makes me wonder.

I don't like pop, but that exhaust under load sounds really good.

i test drove a mini cooper JCW with the "pro" exhaust, never heard a car backfire like that in my life. If the cat on that car can handle it, we should be fine.

Also, the Camaro is much more tasteful.

There’s no comparison and I drove a 2016 Camaro SS for 3 years. The 2019 exhaust popping actually makes me smile when going through the gears with a slight pause to make the snap crackle pop sound. Rice Krispies anyone?

Only in California would you have this problem

I remember my 2010 2SS LS3/6 speed really popped and gurgled when downshifting but seemed like when I had the SLP headers and loudmouth 2 exhaust installed it didn’t pop/gurgle as before with the stock exhaust. The tune I had done probably did away with most of the sounds because it was loud enough with that 3 inch loudmouth 2 exhaust. My ZL1 will pop between gears especially on deceleration in Track mode with Rev matching on!

My 19 crackles like a badass on the rev match downshifts, sounds awesome. Also does it in sport on a hard decel.
