Chevrolet needs to reduce 2020 Corvette production by roughly 20% because of the working days it lost while the factory was closed due to the UAW strike, and to offset the time it spent tracking down internal issues with the car. Production of the 2021 model is scheduled to begin Sept. 1, and pushing that date back to manufacture more 2020s isn't an option.

Davenport pointed out the situation isn't as dire as it might sound. Chevrolet dealerships can earn extra allocations, and enthusiasts who ordered their Corvette from bigger stores across the nation have nothing to worry about, especially if they've given the sales department their full name and their email address. The stores who won't get all of their 2020 orders fulfilled are primarily the ones charging well over MSRP, or those trying to build up an inventory of unsold Corvettes. Chevrolet is prioritizing sold orders placed by individuals.

If you're waiting for a C8 Corvette, contact the dealer you bought it from to make sure it's on its way. "It's very important that you communicate with your dealer so you get your order in," Davenport summed up. Chevrolet will roll the 2020 orders it can't fill over to the 2021 model year; Corvette Forum pointed out the same thing happened when the seventh-generation car went on sale for the 2014 model year. The Corvette is widely expected to cost more in 2021, but executives might delay the increase until the plant fills every order placed for a 2020 model.

Chevrolet remains on track to begin producing the eighth-generation Corvette in Bowling Green, Kentucky, on February 3, though Davenport learned the first car might roll off the assembly line a few days earlier.
So from your statements, does it seem like the bigger dealerships will be given priority? My dealership had 15 allocations of which I was around number 7. Kerbeck in Atlantic City apparently has much more than that. And from the C8 FB pages and forums I am on there are dealerships that have over a hundred allocations. Maybe several hundred. Is it possible that GM might satisfy those dealerships before they get to the smaller ones like mine? BTW my dealership does not charge markups so that is a good sign since GM is prioritizing the ones who are not taking advantage. I did hear that Kerbeck was charging markups. But do not quote me as I do not know for sure. Any info you may have is appreciated.

LMAO. So I take it you've never been on a road course? Why is it so hard to admit you're full of shit? Just own up to the fact that this 180mph you claim to hit was on some 4-6 lane highway while you were roll 'racing'.

We all know there's no road course in the US that the ZL1 will hit 180mph. Especially with you driving.

I didn't know asking how fast you went on a road course was like asking who you voted for.

Sorry for the "personal intrusion" Blaq, didn't mean to get too personal just figured it was something to be proud of.

Probably only a P car, but maybe GTLM cars?

You say you don’t want this place to turn into M6G, but these are the comments that make forums go down that road.

It’s pretty obvious he is willing to go faster than 105mph. Unfortunately the main (only) track in town by us isn’t laid out in a way to go much faster. That’s as about as fast as I’ve gotten down the main straight.

Going fast in a straight line isn’t that big of deal nor hard to do, I’m not sure why some think it is. Or why people use it as some sort of bragging right.

GT2 RS topped out at 177mph setting the production car lap record at RA. Even the ZR1 tops out around 165.

I'm using RA because it's regarded as the fastest track in the states. I'm sure certain people (blaq) don't realize that.

Obviously it makes him so much more of a man than me.

Long video with a bunch of useless talk. Especially considering all the "categories" they picked should have been handled by the base GT500 and ZL1 - Redeye is widebody either way.

Anyway, tough for the GT500 to exercise its HP advantage in a tight track like that. No idea why they would stationary start a lap time...another weird decision for this comparison.

Cliffs:

GT500 wins the comparo - because sound, and practicality.
HC RE wins rolling burnout
A10 ZLE wins lap time with a terrible stationary start (they all made the comment).

I’m not a fan of their videos. I scrolled through, but how does a two seat GT500 beat the Hellcat for utility? I personally don’t count that as a track test either.

Thanks @bradmo9 for posting it though. Always good to see more comparisons.

Because they could throw tires where the back seat would have been?

Agreed it's not a proper track test. It does offer a small confirmation that the CFTP GT500 isn't a ZLE beater...it can nearly match the ZLE in a mag driver's hands on a short, smooth, non-technical track.

Eagerly waiting Randy P. or another semi-pro or pro to drive both cars, same day, same track.

I'd like to see what speeds the Senna and 720s can reach. They've reached higher than the gt2 rs at VIR.

Speaking of fast tracks and the zr1. The zr1 has reached speeds above 170mph on VIR Full, I believe around 175.

Their track test was more in line with MotorTrend's figure 8 test lap than a real road course. With the cars in hand and available resources at Edmunds, they should have taken the cars to a proper track!

Thanks for the cliff notes, don't have time to watch the full video right now. This continues to stack evidence to me that the CFTP is not worth it's price tag

BUT Also makes me think that the Base 500 can beat a base ZL1 around a track. Seems to me like the gap between the base 500 and CFTP isn't as wide as ZL1 and ZLE
