2017 2SS creaky interior from air vents?!

It seems like every bump I hit i'm getting a creak. Maybe because it only has 300 miles? I'm not sure, but I think most of the creaks are coming from the plastic chrome air vents on the drivers side and the passengers side. (by the window). I can push on them and hear the creak. I really don't want to rub WD-40 into the cracks. Has anyone experienced this? Is there a fix? Besides that this is my favorite car I have ever driven.

Mine does it as well. Reminds me of the 80 camaro I once had. Only thing I could
Think to do is remove all the trim pieces and use some soft material on all the mounting surfaces.

Thats a smart idea, I wonder how you remove the trim? Does the dash need to come off? ugg

Fixed it! The entire dash is seriously just held on with clips. You can just pop it off. But I did not need to pop off the entire thing, I was able to just pop off the ends by the doors, I fiddled with the air vents and pushed them in tighter, and made sure to snap all the dash clips in properly. (I dont think all the clips were in correct). I didn't do much, but to my surprise, I cant get it to make noise anymore! While I'm driving all I hear now is my motor!

What I learned: The interior of the car is very easy to work on, a lot of the pieces simply snap on, which is probably why so many people complain of creaking noises from the 6th gen. (If needed its easy to add a grease or lube to a lot of the inner parts that may cause noise, if you cant seem to fix it). Some of the clips are tight and you need to give it force. Don't be scared of it breaking, its designed to pop out.

My driver's side vent does make the same creak, but only when the road gets really rough.

Yeah that was the easy one to fix, open your door and push up on the dash by it. Once your'e in just push down on the vent and it will tightin.

Hi, sorry for bumping old post. But this is one of the noises that make me sad about an otherwise great car. I'd be so happy if I can get rid of this for good. I didn't completely follow your fix. Do I need to take off the dash from the driver side or not? Any chance you can share some pic or quick video?

Bump. Anyone fixed this of late? I tried pulling out the dash from the driver side and pushing in the AC vent in. Didn't seem to go in any further or click in place. Noise is still there

I too hear that sound from that same vent in my car every now and then. I’ve learned to ignore I guess. I haven’t tried any of the suggestions listed above yet. Hope someone else will chime in and help you out.
