Loudest CAI

I had a K&N CAI on my car which made an awesome sound but caused my air-fuel ratio to be all wonky so I returned it and went back to stock. I miss the cabin sounds of it, so which CAI gives the best sound? Don’t really care about performance as these only give like 2-5hp over stock, but I’ve been looking at the Rotofab and the GM one.

If that's your main concern, pull the foam in your sound tube. That should amplify the sound you get inside of your cabin.

K&N's don't have sound tubes.

The Roto-fab CAI is a great option for performance, appearance, and sound! We have accommodations to hook up the factory sound enhancing tube as well!

How much louder is the in cabin noise with the sound tube in versus with the delete? I heard Rotofab’s are not much louder than the stock airbox, and I’m really looking for the deep growl that comes with CAI’s.

I think you need to talk to people that have a Roto-fab, with the sound tube installed, with the foam pulled. Which to my mind is a smaller subset vs just people with a Roto-fab installed on their ride.

I have the Rotofab with the sound tube foam removed. I remember it being fairly audible when the rest of my car was mostly stock. Now, I can't hear a thing.

Roto-fab is a top notch cold air intake. I've had one on my G8 and my 5th gen with zero complaints.

From what I understand the GM intake is a CAI intake and is a quality intake as well.

I had a rotofab dry. Ended up throwing it away before I got my ZL1. Rode in a car with a cai with the foam removed and it was bit more noticeable in terms of sound like you want. I think it's from the sealed box. Rotofab is not sealed just presses against the hood and you can't get a proper seal with the hood liner. Like useing a sock for a gasket.

So for what you want out of those two. Cai is the better choice. You can even do some stuff with the sound tube beyond removeing the foam to make it a little louder.

Yeah. Stock they try to eliminate the sound with baffling. Aftermarket they don't have any baffling. The dimensions, meterial etc all affect the sound.

A "sealed system is not needed, this is not a sub with a diesel snorkel.... It just is not.
