The Mustang was on last years list, not much has changed for it to be nominated again... Remember this is for 2016.

oh yea, I mean according to that it meets the requirements. but how can you be car of the year when your not even on sale yet?

it would be like giving out an emmy for best picture when the movie isn't in theaters yet. Doesn't give the award much credibility

These awards are for new generations of a car models. I'm guessing that since the new generation of the Mustang started in 2014 is why they aren't on the list, even though it's an all-new version of it.
