I agree as well. Seems like a car would have to be out a few months before it could be nominated. Maybe someone did a ride along at 'the ring'

The second paragraph says:

At the recent Frankfurt Auto Show, a list of nominees for the 2016 awards was confirmed. To be eligible, the cars must be new and available for sale on at least two continents during the time period between January 1, 2015 and May 31, 2016.

We already know it will be in the dealerships by the end of the year. So, it does meet the requirements to be nominated...

The Mustang was on last years list, not much has changed for it to be nominated again... Remember this is for 2016.

these awards are for all-new models. So it makes sense that the Camaro is on the list.

Nobody should get excited about the North American Car of the Year award.

The Type R is a phenomenal car from all the reviews I have read.. I dont know how the SS is going to perform... although the stats are in favor of a strong performance... But I think I would place my bets on Type R, C63...

R8??? Not sure if its not fitted with a cheating device to boost performance when on track..hahaha

Cadillac ATS-V

Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe
How are they going to nominate a car that they haven't reviewed?......unless they did and they know it's spectacular!

Seems to me that the award should be renamed to World Performance Vehicle of the Year since you have the X5, X6 and Range Rover Sport on the list.

I'm just nit picking though

well its its nominated but it doesn't stand a chance compared to the c63 or CTS-V.its good to have it on a list full of supercars and don't see any of its competition like the stang or challenger,it means this camaro is something serious

I am not 100% sure that it doesn't stand a chance of winning......

This isn't about which car is the fastest on the list (that would probably be the R8 out of these cars). However other factors are also considered, I don't know if price is considered or not and if it is I don't know how much of a factor it will be.

For all we know the 2.0T 1LT Camaro might get the win for us, at 3,339 pounds in base trim with auto it might be shockingly fun to drive (I know some people are going to swear but it doesn't have a V-8). The base Camaro is 12.1 pounds per horsepower and the Scion FRS with a base weight of 2,758 pounds and 200BHP has a power to weight of 13.7 pounds per horsepower. The Scion FRS is stated to be a really good driving car and fun to drive, if the LT Camaro can capture that fun to drive but with a slightly better power to weight ratio I think it can win.

I am actually surprised there is no mention of GT350/GT350R. They are good cars irrespective of the fact that I am a camaro fan.. The Hellcat too seems to have missed out but I think thats because the hellcat was for the year 2015 (the 2016 isnt out yet, afaik)...
