That's one of the drawbacks of the permanent film or 3M type rock guards; They will leave etch marks along the edges where its applied. You could have the edges wetsanded to reduce the appearance. Its a small price to pay, but if I were driving a car like the ZL1 everyday I believe that I would take my chances and use the 3M protective film.
