Trans Fluid

Anyone use a different trans fluid for street/track driving in their 1LE? Want to get rid of some notchy feelings, but don't want to increase temp on the track. Links and experience would be great!

Are you sure the notchy feeling isn't just our short throw shifter?

Or a matter of adjustment?

A lot of people found changing to Royal Purple, Amsoil or Redline has help.
I changed to Amsoil and noticed a small difference, but when the car is cold second gear gets a double clutch. However, once warm all is smooth...YMMV!
Do a search on Trans Oil to read what others have done and are experiencing.

Not a Royal Purple fan-boy but I ended up going with they're Synchromax and it did make a substantial difference in the cold weather, stock it was almost impossible at times to shift into second and sometimes it would kick back out. It's still a bit clunky when cold as are most manuals but is much improved over the factory fill. Redline D and Amsoil seem to get mentioned a lot also.
I ordered the six quart box because it was almost the same price to buy four quarts, that and a buffer incase I did something stupid like spilling some.

Any experience on daily/track use with this Redline D4 ATF ? I feel like it will be better than stock, but I dont want to have issues when tracking the car.

Probably doesnt help, but I still run OEM AC Delco, I havent had issue with it yet, Ill probably start experimenting with new fluids next interval.

I don't drive my car when the temps stay under 40F, but I do end up driving the car when the temps do drop into the 30's/high 20's. I've had no issues with Redline D4 Spring through Fall and on track. I know others that have used D4 and driven all year with no problems, on and off track.

How do you think it compares to OEM?

It's definitely an improvement on the street. On track, I didn't seem to really notice anything. It just seems the friction package and lower temperature viscosity properties allowed the transmission to shift a bit smoother than the factory fluid.

The BG stuff is also on my shortlist, next to RL D4 and RP, when I reach the time to change trans fluid:

I hate Royal Purple and Amsoil but may have to make a change. My M6 ground a gear into second the other morning and I really cringed. It was 52 here in Naples, FL....

I use Tremec fluid. It is not ATF fluid, it is specifically for the Tremec manual transmissions. I had some notchy shifts when it was cold. Now it is like butter cold or hot. I have a couple track days with it as well. Here is the link for the fluid, it is about the same price as Royal Purple. https://www.tremec-store.com/product...smission-fluid.

There is also the crush washer mod for the ball detent, lots of info out there as the same transmission is used in Corvettes, Dodge and Mustangs. Look up "Anti-Venom 6 Speed Shifter Modification". Cost is two Dorman crush washers and fifteen minutes of your time, some like one some two. It basically takes some of the pressure off the shift rod by the spring loaded ball detent, the 1LE's short shifter doesn't have as much leverage so you feel more resistance.
