I didn't want to tune the car and void my warranty.

So this issue really only applies to drag racing with drag radials or slicks. I can't see anybody seriously racing a 6spd ZL1 1LE on a drag strip on stock tires with the expectation of getting good times. Just for the fun of it, perhaps. But traction issues would have to make it a pita and not worth the effort for most owners. A roll race at speed is the only place these cars can shine in a straight line. ZL1 A10 with sticky tires - that's obviously what you want for drag racing. |

The stock tires are actually pretty good at the strip if there is good track prep. The 1LE tires should be even better. Of course drag radials are better and will make you less dependent on track prep, car setup, and driving ability, but the bog is still something to consider no matter the tire.
I have witnessed the M6 bog at launch in person and in many videos. Remove that bog and the M6 would run much closer times to the A10. Obviously the A10 would still be the best choice for drag racers, but anyone wanting a manual would be giving up less at the strip. Of course that would make it much harder to make up your mind which one to get if you're a manual lover like myself. Knowing how good the auto is, I would still choose it. Even with a torque converter, the A10 is so good, you really can't call it a slush box. It is nothing like any TC auto before it. It feels like the converter locks shortly after pulling out. Once rolling, there seems to be a direct connection between the engine and the driveshaft. Even the paddle shifts are super responsive. Not quite as instant as it looks like the really good dual clutch trans are, but very good. Like someone else has already mentioned, the way the A10 reacts to what you do is one of the coolest features of the car. There really is no bad choice here. Weigh your likes, dislikes, and intended uses and choose. If you can test drive both before hand, then that would be the best way to be sure you're getting what you want and knowing what you can live with or without.

Recent automatic transmission, specially DCTs are faster to shift than any human is able to shift a manual transmission.
If you like to shift your own, you would miss it if you upgrade to an automatic transmission, that happened to me, and went back to manual. Automatic=faster at the track Manual T= more driving involvement feeling

I doubt this is the last comment
I wanted to weigh in too
I've got a '13 1LE and love the M6. Never wanted anything other than a stick to cruise with or run at the track. Absolutely a delight. I just ordered a ZL1 with the A10. The decision was driven by: 1) the $2 grand option wasn't a big deal (very small % of purchase price) 2) it's quicker around the track (I'm competitive) 3) several friends have modern autos in track cars and love them 4) traffic is a real pain with a manual modified car in Houston 5) it would be good if my wife could comfortably drive the car on odd occasions This is like a color choice on a car, 100% personal choice. I don't think you can go wrong either way if you pick what you want. good luck

Im sorry I just cant understand anyone getting a manual now a days. Mabye before 2013 when the autos and cars where still just regular. With the advent of the A10 and these other performance cars and their automatic trannys there is really not one plus with a manual . Why would you want to go slower. Have to concentrate on just shifting and more maintenance.

If I wanted to be the fastest in a straight line only I would have bought a GTR period! Nothing is really touching that car. Plus it’s AWD.
For the pure joy of actually driving I went went the M6. Best of both worlds and a lot more fun. Just my opinion. |
