Replacing tires on '18 ZL1 1LE
Has anyone replaced the tires on their zl1 1le with an aftermarket set that's better for cold and wet conditions?
I daily drive my ZL1 with the track package and would like to have a set on there so I wouldn't have to swap out the originals when the weather gets too wet or too cold. Any input would be appreciated. |

Bridgestone re11s been awesome.. especially in wet.. I might try the kumho ps91 they been great on wife's car. RE71S good not as good in wet plus may have to run square.. but the 11s have same size 305 325 19s

Re11's are discontinued. They took the technology from that tire and made the Firestone Indy 500. Its much improved over the Re11.

Not sure they come I stock sizes BTW, the RE-71r's heat cycle out way before the tread is gone. I had them on my M3 and they fell way off with 50% tread left still. After them, I went to the Advan Neova 08r, which don't quite have the ultimate grip as the RE-71r when new, but are consistent the entire life of the tire. I have a spare set of stock wheels with PS4S on them. A really great tire for the street.

its funny.. I see people say Toyo r888s are better than nitto 01s because of greasy feeling.. Now I see track guys saying they like bridgestone over Mich.. or Vs. versa.. You need to be on slicks if you feel that way because there are no real dual purpose tires.

It's well known that the Michelin Pilot Super Sport was pretty much the "best" all around high performance street tire, cold, hot, dry, damp, track, or street. If you figure that, then the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S pretty much out does it in every way, especially wet performance where the MPSS sometimes had issues if it was REALLY wet out. The MPS4S handles in cool temperatures, it handles when the tires aren't hot, it handles in all types of conditions wet or dry, and I bet that VERY few ZL1 owners could "out drive" the grip potential of them on the track. The chances of you needing a Slick or even the 3R tires are pretty slim. All in all, yeah I'd say they're probably the best.

My argument is the MP4s are not worth double the amount $350 to 420 online pricing 20 inch not to bad in 19s.. Would I buy them sure if they went on sale and came closer to 200 mark each..
I've tried the following.. Nitto Invo, Nitto 05s, Hankooks Ventus the new and older version, Toyo Proxies, Pirellis PZero 180AA amd 220AA, kumho, goodyear 1, 2, 3s, Bridgestones 11s and 71s, MPSS cup 2s, Continental Extreme Contact.. Out of all these the best Bang for buck the Kumho PS91 were the best dollar to performance ratio.. The wet traction was equal to or bested all them.. Dry performance I would give to the MP cup 2s.. this is street use only! the worst are the INVOs dry traction and lasting.. I did a square setup of 295 30 20s at 170 ea.. on my SS Zl1 RE 11s to stay with oem tires autocross 305s 71s the RE11s even though discontinued as you say still available in the right sizes they are the 1st tire out of that list that I felt confident on the hwy with during heavy rain the traction is good even from old technology as you say.. Street only: if cost is a huge factor Kumho 305s only Continental Extreme Contact sport 305s and 325s Bridgestone Re11s proper sizes 305 and 325s Yokahoma AD08r 305s only Bridgestone Re71s 305s only MP4s 325s and 305s Money no option and track days.. RE71s Yokohamas RE11s MP4s Continentals kumho anyhow here are some options with original or a square setup everyone has there Fav, some have tried them, and some go on the majority by here say..
