Do you know about "transport mode"?
I don't think this is in the manual but I learned it on the corvette forum. GM allows a setting on the car to reduce the batt drain while it is going across country or just any time it may sit on the lot for months. It is also avail to you if you have to leave the car for weeks in a secure garage which is my exact situation. I'll let the tech experts tell you exactly what it powers down, but suffice to say your batt will be in better shape when you come back. For shorter periods, easier than disconnecting the batt or putting a charger on it. It works perfect.
The Camaro MAY be shipped in transport mode. To remove the car from transport mode, turn ON the four way flasher and place the driver’s foot on the brake AND on the clutch if it is a manual transmission. Press and hold the Start button for approximately 15 seconds. At this point the engine will START, but CONTINUE to hold the start button for approximately 15 seconds. Information will display on the center of the cluster that will indicate when transport mode has been turned OFF. Transport mode can be entered using the same procedure. That is pretty cool...wondering how it acts if you don't take it out of transport mode.

It makes you drive like you're Jason Statham.

Mine is in transport mod now for another 2 weeks, will report what works before you wake it up. Remember there is no reason to use this mode if you disconnected the battery, and/or you have it on a charger.

I just came back after one month, the battery started at 12.3, coming out to transport mode after month it was 12.2, and nothing was shut off that would interfere with door unlock mode. In other words, all the doors unlocked, so you can turn transport mode off. The techs here can tell you exactly what it shuts off, but whatever it shuts off, I like this mode.

Bumping this one. Glen, still using this? Working well?
So to turn it on/off, it will require the car to start, then you can shut it off, no way around this huh? I just don't like having to start the car multiple times to turn it on or off... Last edited by SS 1LE; 10-26-2016 at 02:41 PM. |

Yup, used it all summer....my car goes sometimes three weeks without starting or moving, because I'm just doing neighborhood stuff and using the scooter. So I just put it in transport mode. The way to trigger it above is the only way I know how to do it.

So to turn it off after the car has been sitting you can do this and just let the car continue to run as usual. But, to turn it on you have to turn the car off, do the procedure (which will start it) then turn it off again?

Wait till your car gets here and then you can mess with it. |

It's not for mine (yet) I am trying to explain via text to a friend with a '16 SS how to do it, and it seems (according to him) that if the car is running, he has to turn it off, do the procedure to activate it, which is starting his car, then he has to turn the car off again...I will try it with him this weekend.
