Camaro 6 LED Reversing Lights

I am on my second set of LED reversing lights and I am still getting the CANBUS glow. The 2nd set even said that it would work with CANBUS. I am not getting an error, just the glow. Anyone know of LED reversing lights that work properly in a Camaro 6?

Thanks

Don’t think I’ve seen a set of LED lights that didn’t cause the glow, you need a resistor to run LED reverse lights. I grew tired of replacing my resistor on my old Camaro so this time around I got white halogens instead. Lose some brightness but the brake lights still flood everything in red imo while getting the same white look

Use this resistor harness and you'll be fine. I've had it with high brightness LED reverse lights since March 2018, never an issue, still working as good as on day 1.

There is no way to solve this problem without resistors. Your options are as follows: 1) buy a professionally assembled harness as above, 2) solder resistors to the bulbs yourself, or 3) buy bulbs that explicitly state the presence of built-in resistors, not just "CANBUS compatibility", because this isn't primarily a CANBUS issue but a leakage current problem due to the very low resistance of LED bulbs.

I used NOKYA 7440 Hyper White backup bulbs in my Z. They're not LED'S but they DO give a much "whiter" glow than the OEM bulbs. Close as I'm getting. Don't feel like getting resistors, etc just to get the LED look. Never really got "good" before and after pics so these are the best pics I have. Of course nighttime is when you notice it the most. Top pic is OEM "yellow" halogen, bottom is NOKYA 7440 Hyper White bulb.

These are indeed better than stock. My experience with brighter halogen bulbs in several cars is they don't last long, although that probably doesn't matter so much with reverse bulbs that are only used for short periods.

I chose LEDs because their brightness is way superior, which helps a lot with backup camera image quality in the dark. Don't mind the resistor harness at all.
But, we're not all the same, different people have different preferences, and that's is perfectly fine.

Totally get what you're saying. I realized I probably should have mentioned I also don't daily mine either. I have 950 miles on it since I got it September of 2022 and I think I've driven it twice at night. So, the bulbs I used I'm sure are plenty good for MY use anyways, but I CAN see the benefit of going the LED/resistor harness route if someone drives much more at night than I do.(which probably wouldn't take much!)

The resistors, really, aren't bad at all.

They make drop-in replacements as well. I have had these now for over a year with no issues.

Another thing you have to watch with putting led's in the reverse lights on newer cars is that the BCM module will not hibernate and drain the battery faster. I have resistors soldered into my LED bulbs and there is no glow, but the battery drains faster when not in use. So, I have to keep it on a float charger when the car sits. Maybe the harness Arpad linked helps. I ran into the same thing with my Acadia. I ended up putting regular bulbs back in and the faster battery drain issue went away.

Interesting, curious about this as well. I am wanting to do this little change to my car but won't do it if there's no way to prevent battery drain.

THIS. I used the Gen5DIY resistor harnesses and I noticed a massive jump in battery drain with the car off. I just pulled them out last week and threw them away.

Thanks for the great info. Anyone know the resister ohm value I should use if I go that route?

Sorry if I'm derailing this thread, but do led side markers also put extra drain on the battery when the car is off?

No, those aren't tracked by the BCM.

(Also, in other words, if they burn out, whether stock or LED, the car won't notice.)
