New all-season performance tires

I am ready to replace my GY's that came on the car and have narrowed the choice to Michelin and Continental but see on paper the Pirelli's are very good.
Any experoence and comments with these are appreciated.

it seems around here the thought leader is the DWS06+, or I think it's the A/S3+ that Mich has.

The Pirellis are not popular around here, from what I can tell, though a few may have them.
Your needs in WA will likely be different than someone using the pirelli's in the Carolinas. So, I would base the decision more on what you see in tirerack reviews from the northwest. Tirerack probably has 1000 reviews for any tire you are considering.

The Conti DWS06 are the favorites around here and are super common. They perform very well for an all-season for these cars

The Tyre Reviews tests are very good, and they tested a bunch of UHP All-Season tires about 18 months ago, including the then-new Pirelli. This was a test of wet and dry performance, not snow/ice. He never did get around to doing a video of snow/ice testing for these UHP tires, but there is a page on their site for the new Pirelli that has some info on its snow performance. I think the summary is that if you don't drive this car in snow or severe cold, the Pirelli might be at least very close to the class-leading Conti. I'm guessing that in WA you don't see a lot of snow driving unless you go up in the mountains.

If you will be driving in snow, ice, or even really cold temps (like low 20s or colder), the Conti is the better option (see the Tyre Reviews page on it). The Conti is always a sure bet in this class. It's what I use on my SS 1LE (but 245/50/18 on base Camaro wheels), and they did just fine in all the snow we've had lately, without making me cry when the weather is nicer. I really love their performance in the rain, too.

The Continental rear size is back ordered nation wide until May (can find at another store with two week+ ship).

I am gonna try the Pirellis now that are available locally an do have a trial program that allows return in the first 30 days.

Will report back here.

So I have spent a day with the Pirelli P ZERO™ AS PLUS 3 after not being able to get the Conti's (and a pass on Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4). Comments are mostly a comparison with the factory GoodYears.

The Pirelli's are smoother, quieter, and much grippier than the GY tires. The only downside I found is what appears to be noticably softer sidewalls so a hard lane change at 90+ is not as controlled. I expect handling at moderate speed to be good and perfomance in rain to be excellect.

A few weeks of driving and I may have more comments.

OK, more time with these tires and abount the same conclusion... Nice street driving, quiet, smooth, precision steering, very stcky.

I find the complient sidewalls create an unstable response from abrupt steering at speeds over 50... enough so I question the 'high performance' rating.

But Motortrend thinks otherwise...

After some frustration trying to get tires that work for me and the car 99% of the time I got full refund on the Pirelli's and bought Michelin pilot sport 4s. Done!

Did you get the all-season variant? How's your initial driving experience been with the new tires?

I passed on the all season and just bought the pilot sport 4's. They are fabulous and makes the car perform just like I wanted. Great dry and wet, worthless in snow with some cold weather restrictions.

BUT I have a new problem... was cutoff in the dark and rather than jam the brakes (like I should have) I dodged to the left catching mid-road curbing at about 40 and destroyed the left wheels and tires. Now need two more tires and four wheels to make all match.

I don't have any idea what to do for wheels (brand, sizes, costs) and have been steered to Discount Tire where I get tires selling FK Ethos RT-7M as a easy one stop fix but am unsure if I need to look else where. Of course burget is an issue.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Check ebay. I got 4 SS wheels shipped for $700 a few years ago.
Granted they were still selling this car and people were installing new aftermarket wheels in the first month.
Tires are easy. Might be worth a road hazard claim if you have that protection.

Was able to order ABL Dynasty wheels at a decent price and get replacement tires under the road hazard warranty. Will be back on the road next week.
