2018 1SS 1LE no footwell lights?

Hi all,

Just recently became the owner of a 2018 1SS 1LE after years of lusting over one.

I noticed that the footwells have no lighting whatsoever, which I have never seen in a modern car. This car was involved in an accident sadly (no frame damage) which makes me wonder if that's related.

It also came with a Zl1 shift knob, could that have something to do with a previous accident as well?

I think all Camaro models came standard with white LED footwell lighting that activates when the door is opened, and it definitely shouldn't be missing on a 1SS.

As a separate option, GM sells an RGB kit that can be installed next to the factory white lights and remains in sync with the interior spectrum lighting on the door panels, radio and cupholders. This kit is for the ZL1, 2SS and 3LT, and if I'm not mistaken, it requires a radio upgrade to work on lower trim levels.

Why doesn’t mine have it then? I attached some images. Wish I had a Camaro buddy to compare with haha

Also I’m planning on doing this along with the illuminated door sills and spectrum door cards. I just need to see which dealership around me knows how to do the software part

Here is a picture of the driver and passenger side footwell so you know where to look for the bulbs and see if/why the stock ones are missing. The default ones that all cars should get is the round white bulb, and the rectangular RGB bulb comes from the extra footwell lighting kit, you should see a cutout for these on both sides.

The software installation has a GM part number just like everything else, any Chevy dealer should be able to pull it up in their system and install the software.

Just to say, when you add the illuminated door sills, you do not need to flash for just them. They are wired through your door switch and work with no computer upgrades.

I'm pretty sure 1SS' do not have footwell lighting standard. I have a 1SS 1LE and my car does not have it.

I had a 2017 1SS 1LE and there was no footwell lighting. It's probably a 2SS thing.

Wow, okay then, I stand corrected. Looks like GM spared another $2.50 on two small courtesy LED bulbs and screwed 1SS owners over

Not sure if it means anything, my 2SS 1LE did not come with the footwell lights. I bought and installed them myself, no flashing is required just a single wire splice and back-breaking/contortioning work
