Me too. Been doing with since my 2017 was new. I permanently wired it so just have to disconnect, put the wire behind the grill and go.

I can shut the trunk on my cord, without the cord being pinched. The weatherstripping prevents metal-on-metal pinch points.

I really wouldn't do that if you disfigure the seal water can leak in. If you ever see how water flows around the trunk lid you are asking for trouble with all the boxes that sit in the trunk pan.

Agree. Way too many horror stories here with water intrusion in trunk! If your trunk isn't leaking, don't tempt fate!

Here's a much better idea, that of installing a charging socket under the trunk, if someone is averse to using the underhood terminals (which has always worked fine for me, even back up Northeast at very low winter temps, but I digress...):

Do you install the trickle charger directly to the battery in the rear or to the terminals in the engine bay? The rear positive post is difficult to get to.

2022 Camaro SS 1LE with 15k miles, I hope the battery isn't already damaged from never seeing a trickle charger.
Connect your charger to the battery posts. The engine compartment didn't work for me.

Been doing under the hood since day 1 of charging. I cant think of any problem, unless it's little stuff like not wanting to leave the hood open, or routing the wires through the front grill (can be annoying). This year she's been sitting almost 2 months already. Hoping by March we're good to go!

Just consider that if needed you can jump start your car using the underhood connections...So, I would think using them for charging, trickle or otherwise, works just fine.

Messing around in the trunk is too much hassle...Under hood has always worked fine for me.

Good luck.

Most remote posts used to jump vehicles are wired directly to starter solenoid and to the positive on the battery. I assume the Camaro may be the same. Using the trickle charger from under the hood works, but you lose amps to the battery due to the long run to the trunk. The best bet for long term storage has always been removing the battery. With that being said, this is my first winter with her, and since we have no snow, I have been lucky enough to drive her a couple of times. So, battery has remained in place.

It gets old raising the hood and clipping there. Definitely hard wire and just plug up.

$40 bucks for one of these.. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Breathe, brace and pull

I know it's not exactly needed to pull it out while storing but is the main reason nobody else take it out is because it's too heavy? This year my car is in storage for winter, so if I was to maintain the battery it had to come out to take home. Although my car was at home last winter, I still took the battery out though. Gotta get my pulls in

I'm pretty active with the battery anyway. Even in summer I only drive it once a wk or so and I disconnect the battery after every drive. I never know how long the car will sit sometimes. Anyone know of any ill-effects of disconnecting after every drive? Fuel trims, re-learning or anything? If so, I certainly cant tell. Car runs great!
