Unfortunately the ZL1 spoiler serves no purpose.

[QUOTE=LS3 Machine;10524569]You say the Z28 is a handful to drive, in what way? The 1LE has a very firm suspension. I don’t see much collectibility in these cars, ANY model. They are better when driven and enjoyed.[/QUOTE
Yep! Like the saying goes, not driving a sports car to keep the miles down to save resale is like, not "knocking boots" with your girlfriend to keep her fresh for her next boyfriend. |

Get a regular ZL1 and put the SS 1LE spoiler or a aftermarket spoiler on. The regular ZL1 has magride suspension. The ZL1 1LE has metal on metal race suspension built by Multimatic too. It will be as harsh or harsher than your Z28 suspension for sure.
It sure sounds like you want a regular ZL1. Don't make a decision purely on spoiler aesthetic. A10 ZL1 + new spoiler. You'll be over the moon.

Coming from a 15' Z/28 with over 700 hp by Vengeance Racing, I think I can give you some insight. First off the ZL1 is faster than my Z/28 was and that is saying something. The magnetic ride suspension with the different driving modes gives a ride that will change to what ever mood you are in. The A10 tranny is just plain AWESOME! Top it off with creature comforts on the inside, Bose stereo, Recaro seats and you will want to drive this car all day long.
If the spoiler is your only complaint, the 1LE spoiler will bolt right into the same holes on the deck lid. Now go get yourself a ZL1 and really put a smile on your face.

Do a search on spoilers. You will find a lot of pictures. Pick one you like and put it on. I have a 1LE spoiler on my Zl1. It’s all personal preference. You should go drive a Zl1 before scratching it off the list over a spoiler.

Am I the only one that cringed when the OP used base and ZL1 in the same sentence?
All kidding aside, the spoiler can be changed/swapped. I was looking at doing that myself as I like the 1LE spoiler but having the convertible presents some added obstacles... |

OP....
My view...from a '15 Z/28 stock to a stock '18 ZLE The Z/28 motor was a great N/A powerhouse. For 99 out of 100, it has more than enough for the street, but obviously a lot less for tracking. I liked the Torsen/3.91 rear end in the Z/28 better, but so far, the electronic/3.73 in my ZLE has not give me any issues, though for some it has. The close-ratio M6 in the ZLE is, IMO, the best ratioed, smoothest shifting, factory installed trans I've ever driven...The Z/28 should have used it instead of that 2.66 1st gear mess...All those folks that want an A-10...well good for them...it's a matter of likes and dislikes. The suspension in both seem mostly identical, but I believe the chassis is a bit stiffer in the ZLE, and it's handling seems to me to be a touch crisper. Both cars can be stiff for most for daily driving, but I personally love a stiff car, so that is a wash. The carbon fiber brakes were awesome in the Z/28, but I have not noticed any less braking capability with the steel rotors on the ZLE. The absolute fantastic creature comforts in the ZLE vs. the Z/28 are the final topper for me. Cooling/heating seats, Nav, a bluetooth system that works great AND!!!! actually plays my music from my Android. An HUD, PDR and all in a car that weighs the same as the '15 Z/28. For me, it was a simple choice. JJ

OP.
I thought the ZLE was going to be too rough for me to drive "daily" but honestly I just like it more and more as time goes on. I drive it to and from work simply because it is just plain fun. I also take it on coffee runs on the weekends just because (sealed lid containers of course...). The M6 with rev matching on has got to be the smoothest manual I have ever driven.
